For the guys with their own ranges, thought I'd post some pics of a "new to me" target stand I just tried out yesterday.
I've got about 35-40 pieces of AR 500 targets, it's gotten expensive and a PITA to get and store more, so I'm always looking for ways to multi use the ones I have. Problem has been mounting them in a way that's flexible enough to allow moving the steel to different locations IE for pistol, then rifle use quickly. I happened upon this site last week for something called "Hang Fast Target System":
Hang Fast Steel Target Systems
That utilizes the common "T" post for the base, and a bracket that slips on the "T" Post and your steel target just hangs on the bracket. What really interested me is that it appeared it would work with my Arntzen 2/3rds IDPA targets, which are mounted on portable stands, same concept they just hang on the stand. Had a couple guys out yesterday to shoot rifle and pistol, so before there arrival I drove out and "hung" 4 of my pistol tgts from 300 to 650 yards for us to practice on. Once we finished shooting rifle, just cruised by in the UTV and picked up the steel and brackets and turned the 4 IDPA TGTs back into pistol TGTs for pistol practice. Worked beautifully, no changing hardware, no adjustments, just hang on the regular Arntzen portable stand or on the "T" post using the bracket, in effect quick change multi-functional targets........
The brackets cost $19.95 each, and are extremely well made and surprisingly well finished.
The bracket as it sits on "T" post:
There's actual holes cut for common bolt/nut sizes so you can use the hanger as a wrench....The hanger slot is very cleverly designed, so you can either hang the target in the slot, or pass the bolt through to mount those lighter targets that will get knocked off. I did have to do this with one of my silhouettes when a 115 grain .243 projectile took it off the stand with a head shot.
With Arntzen 2/3rds IDPA hung:
647 yard shot to the light gravel berm between the trees:
Friend using his .223 1:7 twist with 69 grain and 75 grain handloads, zero issues staying on steel at this distance 10-12 MPH cross wind:
For you guys that want something fast and effective for hanging steel check these out. I'm impressed and will order a few more.
