COP: Carrying a folding knife illegal in WA

The door guys in my home county in WA are mostly retired LEOs working part time. Really decent guys and don't hassle anyone who didn't buy the ticket (IOW if you bring your crack/meth pipe to court you're going to get busted, and they probably do that once a day).

When it first started they would just wave through lawyers they knew. That ended when one idiot (no longer a lawyer) snuck a gun past them and then bragged about it in the Clerk's office. Lawyers are no different from any other group; there's always one jackass who has to ruin a good thing by pushing it too far.

A lot of smaller counties can't afford security. One I go to just has a set of lockers with a sign that says "IF YOU'RE CARRYING A GUN PLEASE LOCK IT UP HERE". Didn't make me feel any more secure.

I remember assisted openers were almost going to be restricted in WA, but then it didn't happen, thank God. I got stopped by a King County deputy as a pedestrian, and let him hold onto my Cold Steel tanto a moment, and he said it was fine when I asked about, but that was regarding size, aprox. 4" blade, but it flicks out rather nicely and effortlessly.

Anyway, I wanted to pick up some assisted openers just to collect, and couldn't find any at the little neighborhood tobacco/head shops where I uised to find them easily, and they were scared out of selling them I guess. But the gun and pawn shop where I bought my sweet assisted Kershaw still sells the same model, and a good selection of others as well. Go fig. Anyway, any kind of restrictions on knives (brass knuckles, saps etc. too for that matter) is just despicable to me, and I would like to see every state by state just clean out the books. It should be a grass roots "Take Freedom Back" kind of thing, I mean there's not sense to any of it, I want to carry a fully auto switch blade if I feel like it, and it's what one does with them that should matter.

Thumbs up icon to the last paragraph. Such a silly story too. Anyway, how can we go about just sweeping the books of exessive and opressive laws like these? With the Tea Party movement momentum, I'd like to see a tag along agenda of just plain old liberty as we were intended to have. It would help curb wasteful government spending too, as another benefit, so should be a Tea Party type thing.

That is a very Libertarian concept you mention. We're buried in laws that just don't make any difference.

Yup, NY, that's us. Don't come here for any reason. We will teach you what government can do for you.
