I'm new to this forum. I shoot 2000-3000 rounds of leaded 9mm 115gr. reloads per season, which is 7 or 8 months at best in Wisconsin. I would like to start reloading with copper coated because of the time spent cleaning the M&P Shield and M&P PC ported guns that I shoot the most.

Is there anyone that can help me find a online retailer that sells and possibly discounts reasonable priced copper coated bullets.

Thanks

MidwayUSA, Brownell's, Cheaper Than Dirt, Natchez, and I m sure a search will bring up other dealers. Rainer(spelling?) and a few other manufacturers make copper plated bullets that are just as good as copper jacketed bullets at keeping barrels lead free. That said, you'll now be cleaning copper off the inside of your barrels instead of lead.

Berry's and Rainier are probably the most common plated bullets. Plated bullets will still leave residue, along with carbon build up, in your ports. No need to clean the barrels back down to bare metal.

RC beat me too it. Other coated bullets are Precision Bullets and Bayou Bullets. Bayou is the best price by far. The coating will still get in the ports, but the barrels remain remakably clean.

Another vote for Xtreme. I've been buying/loading/shooting a bunch recently. And another option of an online retailer preferred by many here is Rocky Mountain Reloading - RMR. He's a forum member as well and has some good deals on pull downs.
I've also shot several K of Berry's.

Just in case nobody has told you, Msgt, plated bullets are to be crimped lightly. Just enough to remove the bell mouth for smooth feed. Most plated bullets are a soft lead core, all to easy to reform undersize.

And yes, welcome to THR!

I buy Frontier brand plated bullets from Black Hills Shooters Supply and have had very good success with them. BHSS is FFL only but your local dealer should be able to deal with them. BHSS pricing is freight paid so you always know what the total price will be. The more you buy, the cheaper per unit so save up and order large quantities.

X-treme again. I've loaded over 25,000 of their 158 gr round nose flat point .357 dia for my competition rounds.

Good price, excellent customer service, I like the cannelure, clean.

I've had them up to over 1,300 fps in .357 magnum loads as an experiment, but mostly 900 to 925 fps .38 spl.

I have loaded 124gr X-Treme with no issues, so I assume 115gr should be fine based on the previous responses. X-Treme is running a 24 hour special for 115gr plated RN for $37.33 per 500 instead of the normal $39.29. You don't get a break on bulk order and you need to take shipping into consideration.

You should also look at RMR bullets. They run at $78 per 1000, less 5% for THR members and no shipping. That gives you $74.10 for 1K, where X-Treme is $74.66 for 1K + shipping. RMR bullets are also thickly plated. Looks like RMR is the better deal.

RMR, Xtreme, Berry's, Ranier all good to go. Shop around those sites, and also check tjconevera.com as noted. Great deals on all of the sites usually.

I'll try the coated MBC bullets when I run out of my current stock of "smallball".

1KPerDay, thanks for the tjconevera.com link. They have some good prices and I will definitely look at them also before buying my next bullets.

I found all companies of plated bullets to be very similar in performance. I have some MBC coated bullets haven't tried enough of them yet.
