I am in the process of cleaning the copper from several barrels that have never been thoroughly cleaned. Using Hoppes, followed by M-Pro 7 Copper Remover. It doesn't seem to be very effective, frankly.
So i'm thinking, since the active ingredient in cover solvents is ammonia, why not just soak the barrel in straight ammonia?
Anyone tried that?
What works for you?
