I was wondering where y'all get your corn cob tumbling media from. This past summer I finished my homemade wet tumbler and am currently using Zilla lizard litter (crushed walnut) for polishing, but if corn cob works better, then I would like to try some. The brass looks dog gone good after it comes out of the wet tumbler, but the shine the tumbling in dry media does is nothing short of amazing.

i get a jub from cabelas or a shooting supply store that sells it. hornady and rcbs makes it.

I buy it by the 40# bags from Drillspot. It used to be the cheapest but I have not had to buy any more since the big purchase. Grainger has the bags too. Go for the 40/20 size. This size will not get stuck in the primer pockets. I us a 50/50 mix. You will find that blast media is of better quality than the scraps used for pet bedding. But for small quantity some local gun stores buy in bulk and sell gallon bags of it cheap.

The brass doesn't need to shine, just cleaned, but assorted pet supply or farm supply places will sell it. Corn cob doesn't work better than walnut shells though. It's just another option. Sort of a Ford vs Chevy thing.
As with a lot of firearm related stuff, if it says 'gun' or 'gunsmith's' on the package is just costs more.

Zoro was the place to get bulk amounts but I see they upped the free shipping to over $50. So buy two bags and you will be set for life or split it with someone. It is all the same stuff (Econoline)

I get Walnut media at Harbor Freight Junk. Corn shines better though.

The old belief was walnut cleans better and corn shines better. My brass is not filthy so either one works, Heck mix it 50:50 if you want.

Just be sure to change it out frequently, it is not a badge of honor to say that I have been using the same media for 5 years. It does wear out and and is full of nasty crud.:)

I use the bedding from Wal-Mart, but it sticks in bottleneck cases. I will try a bag of 40/20 from Grainger's when I start reloading rifle rounds in a month or two.

When I was dry tumbling I'd buy corn cob media at a local pet store. I think it was targeted as bird bedding.....there was a parrot or something on the bag. They perfumed it - so the brass came out bright *and* smelling good. LOL

I have transitioned to wet tumbling - and I have to say the shine out of the wet tumbler is much better than what I got from walnut or corn cob media. I do use Armor All Ultra Shine Wash & Wax instead of Dawn.
