Cost per casing (7.62x51)

Just wondering what everyone is paying for their 7.62x51 brass. trying to find a source of 2000 fired once Lake City brass at a decent rate.

The problem you will incur with most LC brass in 308 is that it was fired in a sloppy chambered MG, ie M60 or M240. So, you will almost always have to use a small base sizer die for the first resizing. And, the brass probably will have short case life. Now, if you could score some M118LR brass shot in bolt gun or perhand precision M1A or M14 then you would have a primo lot of brass to work with.

Brass has gone up! You are at the mercy of the market!
 
Thanks for the heads up, I seen people paying as much as 85 bucks for 250 match LC brass on ebay so I was wondering. I really want to get into reloading for the m14 I am building up and soon for a purchase of a remington 700p that I am going to get.

Is there a better source for brass other then the LC?

You can set a reminder in Midway and Graf's for when their once fired LC brass becomes available. I paid $9 per 100 for the last batch of 500 I bought. As people have said . .you NEED a small base resizing die OR a LEE resizing die (my buddies worked . .I had to buy one).

No comment on case life yet as I'm still on my first (second) firing.

there is a number of companies that sell brass in the shotgun news in the small adds.get a copy at your news stand.
 
There's always scrounging:

1. Ask your buddies who don't reload.

2. At the range, if you see someone shooting 7.62 surplus and obviously not saving the brass, ask if you can have it.

Of course, the problem is that mose 7.62 surplus is Berdan primed, so this may not work.
 
Personally, I'd stick with commercial Winchester brass in .308 for the short lines and Lapua for mid to long range.

in a long time. Listed in the Shotgun news cheaper, but unknown
the condition
