Could the Army be used to confiscate guns?

Sand Rat, it is a pointing out of the systematic failure of our Society on several levels. The Soldier or Marine 50 years ago is not the Soldier or Marine today. Pretty close, but not the same.

our enemies's 50 years ago are not the same as our enemies today. We don't fight against first world countries with established militaries anymore. I don't count the Iraqi military, pre-2003, as a first world military so don't even compare the Iraqi military to the German or Japanese military of WW2. Our military personnel today have to operate under a lot more scruntiny than personnel serving 50 years ago. A soldier, marine, airmen, or sailor who shoots an unarmed Iraqi or Afghan civilian gets front page news and a court martial hearing. A US soldier, sailor, marine, or airmen who shoots an unarmed Korean civilian back during the Korean War will never see his/her name in the papers at all. You are comparing apples to oranges.

I place my bets with a platoon of Airborne Rangers or Marines anyday of the week to take out a bunch of fear mongers with a few AK's or AR's with thousand of rounds of ammo stockpiled

Even at something like 100 to 1 odds?

soldiers and marines who actually have real time combat experience going up against folks with a heck of a lot more firepower than your tricked out AR-15 or AK .

Do these combat hardened soldiers exist in a vacuum? Do they evaporate at the end of of their term of service? there are a hell of a lot of vets in the civilian world these days my friend

folks with a heck of a lot more firepower than your tricked out AR-15 or AK

Last I heard our current enemy is fighting mainly with AK-47s, the occasional RPG and a whole lot of IEDs ( you know similar to the one Timothy Mcvie took the face off the murrah building with?)

you really think any of you can resist and hold out for even 30 minutes?

Al,Queda's been doing it going on 6 years
I mean how many in here actually have served in the military?

the vast majority of posters here have at least one tour in the Military

If you did, how many have served in a combat line unit,
You got me there I was in an Aeromedical evacution squadron

recieved training that remotely resembles some kind of infantry training?
BCT is almost entirely infantry training I'm begining to wonder if you were ever in the military

China is our problem. Currently we are in a little naval spat with them. China intends to match us tank for tank in 40 years or less time and bury us with her production, population and long range planning and economics. The only chance we have is to kill off her food. We will probably have to fight her someday.

Regarding survival time against Soldiers or Marines. We measure it in minutes or less.

It is not for life we fight, it's for the belief or prinicple. We must make these decisions as best as we know how and when it's time for us to go to meet our Lord, all things here on earth will not matter anymore.

It is our great hope that there will be those in the Military who shall not blindly accept directives to start disarming Americans. There will be shootings and fighting in some areas. That much I can tell you right now.

You think maybe I am stupid or perhaps not worthy or too puny to stand up or do anything and become sheep. We assure you sir, that is not the case. There are and have been millions of killings of Civilians for a variety of situations over the history of armed warfare and we wont be the last.

Even at something like 100 to 1 odds?

you bet. That's about as much faith I have in your "skills".

Do these combat hardened soldiers exist in a vacuum? Do they evaporate at the end of of their term of service? there are a hell of a lot of vets in the civilian world these days my friend Yeah, thank goodness most have common sense and don't share this fear mongering about civies taking on the US military like you do.

Last I heard our current enemy is fighting mainly with AK-47s, the occasional RPG and a whole lot of IEDs ( you know similar to the one Timothy Mcvie took the face off the murrah building with?) uhh yeah I know that, so again I ask, what makes you, sitting behind the computer reading about AK47's, RPGs and IEDs, thinks you can take on a soldier, sailor, airmen, or marine who fought against such threats, with your tricked out AR or AK?? I guess those Marines in Al-Anbar are a bunch of weenies compared to you huh?

Al,Queda's been doing it going on 6 years AQ has more "military" training and indoctrination than some on here. Sad fact huh? Oh wait, are you saying you and your buddies here are on the same level as AQ?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

the vast majority of posters here have at least one tour in the Military see my second reponse, self explanatory

You got me there I was in an Aeromedical evacution squadron great, you admit you speak from no authority about the issues being presented in this thread. Oh by the way, I'll let your local VFW know what your feelings about the US military are.

BCT is almost entirely infantry training I'm begining to wonder if you were ever in the military BCT??? LMAO, dude, try a couple steps up the ladder. Hmm, I'll start. Ranger school? Mountain Warfare School? Just being in theater involved in ops is a heck of a lot more "training" that what some on here have.

What started out as a reasonable legal question has evidently been sidetracked into insurrectionist chest beating.

We don't do that here.

Please try to remember that this is the Legal forum on THR - that means we engage in discussions about RKBA legal issues.

Focus, guys. :)
