I’ve been looking into them! I was also thinking a red dot mount that attaches to the back sight without permanent mods.

I am doing so much research and apparently both Classic and PSA SKS rifles are real hit or miss right now. I’m hoping one will pop up on armslist or in a LGS in my area so I can see it first. Stock problems don’t bother me, those are easily fixed, it’s the condition of the metal parts I care about.
And yes, I know these are cold war era surplus so I can’t be picky.
