one of my hobbies is knifemaking , I manage to finish about 2 or 3 a month , sometimes more if I am doing smaller ones , which seem to sell well are popular for EDC. Met alot of great folks thru this hobby , had the priveledge of having Neil Blackwood spend an evening at my house , got to visit Trace Rinaldi at his , a few years back I spent a weekend at Eric Blairs place , which is where it all began.
Valkman has been over a couple times , but I ain't seen him since he moved to the land of the free :neener:

Just thought I would show a few pieces I finished recently...

these 3 were finished this week , Kiridashi is .200 S30v (Fred Perrin inspired , made with his approval ) , other 2 are 5/32 D2 , flat ground , Heat Treat by Paul Bos

another I finished up recently ( i like this orange/black micarta )

This one I just finished today , leather sheath was still not 100% dry when I took the pict.

a friend in MS ordered these two with Butterscotch G10 ( looks like aged white micarta ) , one for him and one for his dad...

even worked on one for myself , a good bud gave me this damascus blade with a stick tang about a year ago , never could figure out what to do with it , until another bud gave me this antler drop.... still need to finish it but its getting close.

just a few more...
One I made for a bud who asked me to make him a knife when I ran into him at the Vegas knife shot back in January. He specified anything NOT S30v...so I went with 154CM .200 thick. Finished this over the summer , hand satining when it is 115 degree's in the shop just sucks !

this mess was all done for one customer .... glad he liked black cause that was his only choice I gave him... usually I just do leather work for my knives , occasionally a friend will twist my arm to make him a sheath or 2...or 7 !
Couple sheaths for a Nihiser folder , couple sheaths for a Hossom Ontario folder ( one of which he gave to Jerry Hossom ) , a couple light pouches for a Fenix 1LT , 1911 mag pouch , and the fixed blade sheath was for a knife I made ( this was the only one that wasnt for him ...I think.... sux getting old ).

Nice designs and nice looking grind lines, John. My compliments.

How do you price those?

depends on the steel...for example the smaller ones above are around $110 shipped with kydex , $140 with leather ( like the one in the 4th picture which is available ;) ).... something the size of the butterscotch handled blades in 154cm with leather sheath are $180.

Occasionally I make some from 01 or 1095 that I try to sell as low as I can.

T'ain't a thing wrong with a good O-1 blade with a Paul Bos heat treat!

I just might have to order one, or more.

Paul doesnt HT 01 unfortunately , that I do myself . I will end up with a HT oven soon , but even when I do , Paul will still end up doing all my SS and D2 blades. Just cause he is THE man when it comes to HT :)

JTW Jr,

Very Nice on both the designs and leatherwork.
Neat to see the Perrin approved knife.

Your first set of pictures, knife in the center with white handles.
I had a smaller version of that, with Ivory handles and either O1 or 1095 (forget) custom made for me way back when.

With it was a Whittlin' knife, nice ivory handle, with a 1" - 1 1/2" (forget) blade.

I like O1 , 1095, and CV personally.

sweet!

O1 , A2 , 1095 . . . . . it's all good bro. Proper heat treating cures a myriad of ills - few of which are design related. I like the lines of the blades and the look of the finished product. Are you attending any shows in the southwest in the near future?

This one was in 1095 if I recall correctly...

this one was a joint effort between myself , Trace Rinaldi and Kit Carson.
It was a Gambit blade blank Trace gave me , we worked on it at his shop , had the heat treat done by Bos , when it came back I brought it home and finished the grinds . Midway thru finishing it a friend came by and told me how much he loved that blade shape. It was a few days later his 7 year old son past away from a lifelong illness. It devastated him , and an idea was born , after calling and talking to Trace and getting his go ahead , the knife was sent to Kit Carson for engraving on the blade

on the reverse side of the blade was " Daddys Hero ".
I then finished it was some Stabilized Koa from the Bybee ( Alpha Knife Supply ) , used some nickel silver pins and one mosaic , I made a leather sheath for it and my wife made a wood box from a kit and lined it. Presented it to him when we had him over one night , he says although he has plenty of customs , this one is never leaving his possession.

Uncle Kit also included a piece of Titanium that he inscribed just as he did the blade.

not as a maker , but as a shopper more than likely. Waiting for the Vegas show in January and the Shot Show of course. Dont think I will make the AZ show this year.

a pict of the Q-dashi ( my version of Fred Perrin's dashi ).
and picts of them all sheathed up....

and the beginning of the next batch ...hope to get it out to Paul Bos soon. Steel dust was flying this weekend... had about 6 hours to get as much done as I could.
Much work till they are ready for heat treat though. Steels in this batch are 1/4 D2 ( the camp knife I am making for myself ), 1/4 A2 ( couple knives for friends ), 5/32 D2 ( those are profiled and drilled) and lastly 12 blades of 5/32 ATS-34 ( semi profiled ).

Those little wharnies are new, aren't they? I think one of those in a square crossdraw sheath like you did for the Qdashi might be just my style.

How could i go about ordering one of your knives?
I dont take orders per se , just post what I finish up for sale on a couple knife forums.

Those little wharnies are new, aren't they?
somewhat , there is one I did , made it for myself , but Q talked me out of it , with a kydex cross draw sheath :)

its nice to get something done too bud.... I just tell the wife " yeah , the steel is still stabilizing " ;)

John, those are very clean, sweet knives there. Very reasonably priced, too.

I like 'em a lot. :)

That Blue G10/S30V is to die for, though I prefer your slightly more pronounced guard, as in post #2.

John

REAL NICE work JTW, Clean lines, "Out of the Box" designs, Im very impressed :) I've handled your MUCH EARLIER stuff and to say you have come along way in a short time, would be an understatement.
