Couple of questions on IDPA.

Is it true that .45 ACP is not permitted in the STOCK or ENHANCED SERVICE PISTOL DIVISION?

Would a CZ 75 compact that shoots DA/SA be considered STOCK SERVICE PISTOL DIVISION or ENHANCED SERVICE PISTOL DIVISION. Is it just a matter of whether ro not you take the first shot as SA or DA. So, if you take the first shot as DA, you would shoot in stock and if you take the first shot SA you would shoot in enhanced...?

.45 is allowed in Stock service pistol, just no one shoots it there. Nine is the caliber of choice, but stock is open to any DA or DAO 9mm or higher.
Enhanced is for the SA pistols smaller than .45.
And Custom Defensive pistol is the Bill Wilson class (1911 .45). Although it is sometimes fun to shoot a CZ97 or USP and download the mags.
You can shoot the CZ in either catagory like you have surmised it just depends on if you take the first shot DA or not. Personally I don't want to lower the hammer on a live round any more than I can help it.

I have shot a Glock 21 in SSP. I down loaded to the .45 to around 130 PF. A low recoil gun that makes great big holes.
The rule book says something to the effect of Pistols approved for SSP may also be used for ESP or CDP depending on caliber. And the G21 is on the list of approved for SSP. My load made the Power Floor. Oh and people complained bitterly about my gaming, but I really showed them a thing or two. I finished 4th of 5 in my division.

And what was it that made it gaming to these folks, i.e., using a legal pistol making the power floor as presribed in the rules for that division?

The fact that they didn't think of it first would be my guess!

It's too bad you can't even LOSE (sorry, I'd be 6th of 5 ) and be immune from being called a gamer. Sounds like you had the misfortune to be in the Peter Pan squad, because they really need to grow up!

Glocks were used more often than any other pistol in the most recent IDPA National Championships in Lake Cormorant, Mississippi.

Out of 327 shooters, 80 used Glocks. Now, remove the 31 wheelguns used in the competition, and that's over one quarter of the competitors (just a hair over 27% to be a bit more precise).

Now, while there may have been more 1911 style guns overall (including calibers other than .45ACP), that's a heck of a lot of Glocks.

Their versatility and reliability in defensive pistol shooting puts them in good stead. And they shoot almost all of the defensive calibers. I'm not a "Glock is better than anything else" kind of guy, but they are a fine gun for IDPA.

The gripe was that I was downloading. Not keeping in the spirit of the game. True. I was having fun. I was shooting a minor caliber with a large enough bullet that I could score my targets as I shot the course with out having the recoil that normally comes with the larger bullet.
Truth be known. 2 of the loudest gripers did it a couple matches later. It was a fun experiment. If I wasn't haveing other problems I might have won that day. I fumbled reloads and botched a draw. I was having a off day, but the gun ran perfectly and gave me exactly what I wanted.
