Court Smacks Down California Under 21 Rifle Ban

This is a 2-1 decision by a 9th Circuit panel. The next step would be for California to request an en banc reconsideration by the full 9th Circuit. Undoubtedly it will do so, and then the chances are that the lower court will be upheld.

While the ruling allowed 18 year olds to buy semi-auto rifles, it left a clause in the law requiring those under 21 to obtain a hunting license to buy long guns.
