Anyone ever mountain bike out to their stand or blind? Just thinking it'd cut down on scent and allow you to get farther and or out to your stand quicker. Looking it up on google all I find are ads for electric scooters. I don't have one of those but I do have a bike!

I have thought about it, but dragging a travois or dead-sled would be difficult on a bike...

Just strap the bike on top of your new trophy and pull both out (assuming you're using a cart). Knew several guys back in Washington state who used bikes on closed forest service roads to get back a mile or two away from all the road hunters. They used a pull-behind kids trailer to carry their camp gear, and to pull out their deer or elk if they were successful.

I've done it several times. Works good. If you kill a deer, gut it and place the open belly of the deer on the seat. Tie or bungee the head and front feet to the handle bars and walk it out. It's a lot easier than dragging.

I rigged a couple of U-shaped gun holders on the handle bars and the gun helps by providing a cross bar for the deer's head to rest on.

Forget the cart.

Yep, it works great. I've biking into hunting areas whenever I can.

thanks. I'm surprised there's not more info on google. the place i would go is accessible by truck. it's far off the main road so i was thinking more for not disturbing things on my way in.

Where I currently hunt, there would be no advantage as I could drive all the way in if I wanted to. I park in the middle of the corn field and walk the rest of the way across to the tree line.

A bike in a cornfield I think would be asking for a crash....

What about noise? Walking would be quieter in my woods, but there are a lot of little sticks. Also, what do you do with the bike once you get to your stand? Wheel it away and cover it with leaves? Can the deer smell your sweaty bike? personally, I would be hesitant.

It depends on the terrain and location, but in the right spot it works great. We're not talking about hunting from the bike, just using it to save several miles of walking before getting into the area where you'll hunt. No more noisy or smelly than driving your truck. But on many pubic areas gates are locked and the bike makes sense.

A bike is less noisy than walking depending on the terrain. Not to mention I've found game to be less spooked by a person on a bike than a person on foot.

Just depends on your location and situation. I use a bike to acess an area the park it and hunt on foot. If I was doing a stand type hunt I'd do just like a vehicle and park it some distance away and walk the final stretch to the stand.

I wasn't aware that bikes sweat;). But seriously as mentioned above I'd not park a bike under my tree stand.

Rain or sandy roads will be hell but aside from that you should be good to go. Just remember that bikes aren't allowed on USFS Wilderness.

nope, and the reason is this. I hunt in rough terrain, I don't hunt from stands normally, and even though they might be easier from a cardio perspective, they are harder on leg muscles so the odds of cramps and lactic acidosis are higher than if I'm just walking. in addition when I do see an animal I don't have to slam on breaks and come to a complete stop before unshouldering my weapon(which probably isn't cross slung but would probably have to be on a bike) and bringing it to bear. lastly, if I do stop to follow tracks, or shoot and then have to follow it through brush the bike is staying on the trail and odds of it getting stolen are pretty high. so no it's a stupid idea for me, in my region, for my style of hunting, and probably a lot of other people too.

now if I hunted from a stand on a nice level privately owned ranch in texas somewhere, the bike to and from hunting might make a bit more sense.
