Bought my son a Crickett .22LR and took it to the range for the first time yesterday. Very dissapointed that 1/3rd of the rounds wouldn't eject after being fired. I had to manually remove them for him and it got old kinda quick. We cleaned it before we headed there so I know it wasn't a fouling issue with the bolt/extractor. Seemed like the extractor didn't want to catch the lip of the cartridge. I was shooting the 550 count box of Federals BTW. Any inputs would be appreciated.

My boy's Crickett did the same thing until I took a copper bore brush for a 25 and put it in a drill. Hoppe's or Breakfree as a lubricant, scrub the chamber. The copper won't damage the steel, but will remove any gunk.

Give it a try. If that does't work, give keystone a call. I recently spoke to a wonderful young lady name Erin at Keystone, when ordering parts. I imagine they can help, if the bore brush doesn't work.

Sounds as if there might be something keeping the extractor from getting its full travel. My best guess would be that either there's a bit of manufacturing residue left in the works or some slight burr or tool mark that's hanging it up.

Take the bolt assembly out and try moving the extractor with your fingers. If it feels like something's keeping it from moving smoothly, or the lip doesn't protrude into the bolt face enough to engage the rim of the case solidly, then that's likely the trouble. You should also make sure that the cut in the breech face of the barrel doesn't have anything in it that may be keeping things from snapping into place. A Q-Tip and solvent will usually be enough, but sometimes a wooden toothpick or the like is needed too.

Should this not sort things out for you, I'd give the manufacturer's CS line a call rather than do any DIY disassembly or stoning. That's what warranties are for and you wouldn't want to take the chance of voiding it accidentally trying to save a little time. Most makers will cover shipping on a brand new item to keep a customer.

A friend had bought a Cricket for her grandson that did the same thing.
Everything appeared ok, just wouldn't extract. I called Keystone and they sent another extractor that helped but didn't cure the problem. I guess sending the gun back is the best thing to do.

I'd call keystone arms and explain the problem (probably a miss cut extractor) which is not that uncommon. If you half way handy you can install it yourself.
