crooked bullets in the case ok to fire???

i got some .308 surplus ammo that was removed from belts so some of the bullets are seated a little crooked hard to notice unless you roll them them you can see them wobble

they are all seated tight and i will be using them in a cetme (direct blow back semi auto rifle)

has any one else ever shot rounds like this ?

I would think they would be ok but wanted to know if any one has heard or seen different

Got a reloading press and .308 dies? Might just touch them with the bullet seating die, not enough to seat them deeper but just enough to realign the bullets.

i don't or i would. i may have to see if i can find someone who does if they are a no go for shooting

You're not going to seat them any straighter now. The bullet is an interference fit in the neck. If the bullet isn't straight its probably because the neck isn't lined up concentric with the case. Might have happened when de-linking, may have come off the line that way.

If you have to roll thenm on a flate plate to see the offset, I wouldn't worry too much about it. We're not talking about match ammo here.

I agree w/ Sport45.
As long as you're not trying to shoot this for accuracy you'll be OK.

I've seen some factory ammo like that & had no problems shooting it.

I wouldn't use it for hunting either.

If they will chamber...

... without beating the bolt closed with a mallet, they're probably safe to shoot.

They won't be any great shakes for accuracy, but the crooked bullet will not jack up pressures or anything like that.

As mentioned, if they will chamber they are fine.

How well they will correct in the bore depends on servaral things but none of it concerns safety at all.

You were never going to get accuracy out of that ammo anyway. So as long as it chambers go ahead and shoot it.

Sheesh I thought that was the type of ammo that the BG used to shoot around corners in the hood with.

I got a lot of this in 8 MM and had no trouble with it either.

Without seeing how much they are tilted, I won't comment on safety of firing them as is.

I got started in reloading by trying to straighten some bullets in a batch of commercial 7.62x25. Got a Lee hand press and a set of Lee dies to straighten them out, since they caused blown primers and a nice relief of the bolt face on the headstamp of the fired brass.

The press worked well enough for the purpose, but the Lee seater wouldn't straighten the bullets out at all, just seated them deeper. They claim their floating seating stem is all about making straight ammo. Maybe, but it would have to be straight to begin with.

I switched to a Hornady 30 Lugar seating die, and it worked great. Other brands (except Lee) would probably work as well.
