very nice 1911's whats one of those cost?

You know, if you gotta ask.......................

Be prepared to be :what: That's alot of expensive work there.

First one isn't my cup of tea. Little too flashy for my taste. Now that Springfield? Let's just say putting me in the vicinity of one wouldn't be healthy for my bank account.

I prefer the second one too, except for the forward slide serrations. The "highpower cut" on the first pistol's slide would make that second one a work of pure joy. Still, everything else on the Springer, especially the softening of the grip safety bump and that neat little channel carved into the grips to allow easier access to the mag release, and the retention of the ambi, making them rounder and smoother...

You are a consummate artist, Chuck. BRAVO!

Chuck,

Very nice! Amazing melt job on the SA. It is no wonder why your name is included amongst those who are the finest 1911 pistolsmiths in the world. I was just on the LTW website looking around last night. Breathtaking when you see something that beautiful; I can only imagine what it looks like in person.

WOW!! That first one is outstanding. Honestly, that might be the first 1911 that LOOKS like it would be worth the money.

Beautiful!

Very nice, that top one looks like the result of a BHP mating with a 1911:cool:

Sexy guns, I don't think I want to know what those puppies cost:eek:

Very nice. I really like how blended everything is. The best thing though is that there doesn't seem to be a sharp edge anywhere except for the cocking serrations.

those are awesome thanks for sharing. i love the first one, i love the sights the rear has lenty of "ledge" and area for doing one handed malfunction clearance and reloads on objects and the magwell is very verynice, blended really well. i like it alot.

The first pistol looks a little too "different" for me. But the second one is the most beautiful 1911 I ever saw. Nice work! The finish looks awsome, is that the photograph or is it something special?

Thanks for all the comments!
:)
I knew that the first gun, the blue one, would not be for everyone. From the responses here and elsewhere though, it seems that it does appeal to some.
I was looking to build something a bit different to attract attention at the SHOT Show. I figured as long as it did not compromise the weapon's intended function, why not?
The finish on both guns is Cerakote over a base of manganese phosphate.
Titanium Blue and Sniper Grey to be specific. I've been using Cerakote for some time now and feel that it is one of the truly great finishes for a carry gun.
The rear sights are my own 'Tier One' model. Currently I'm machining them from pre-heat treated 4142 Chrome-Moly steel in small batches. I'm going to try to get them 'on the market' sometime this year.
:D

It seems like you can't buy a gun like that for love or money. You can find a smith to build a reliable shooter but finding someone to build something interesting is quite hard. They all seem to be too busy to accept new orders and further increase their backlog.

I love the angle at the muzzle end cut out of the bushing and and recoil spring plug. You always seem to find something new and interesting to put into every build.

Coatings

I would really like to see your work in nickel, black chrome, or DLC. Just me, eh?
You ARE a master, I have no doubts.

berk,
I hate to send guns out for refinishing. It's always hazardous and the results are far too often disappointing.
And I'm no 'master'. A 'master' can build nice guns and make a profit while doing so.

Here's another one that I brought to the SHOT Show. It leaves on Monday, back to Las Vegas and its new home.

Is that your preferred coating for wear and longevity? I'm having a gun built now and was going to use Gunkote over mag phos, but your guns are good looking and functional looking with that coating.
