So I see so many glocks out there that all look the same, and If i buy one, I want it to be different. so, here is my question/statement.

Say i buy a standard Glock 17 pistol in 9mm. third or fourth generation, whichever works for me.

now, I would want a different slide. Stainless steel or maybe something more radical like a tigerstripe effect slide.

I would also want a better barrel, maybe with some threads at the end for a suppressor.

A-anybody know where i can get these items?

B-any pictures of a customized Glock like this?

There's something about trying to customize a Glock to make it "different" or to make it "stand out from the crowd" that isn't far removed from trying to customize a Toyota Camry so that it doesn't blend in :D .

Don't get me wrong, I'm not Glock bashing, but if you want something that is different, maybe look into something unusual that not everyone else already has.

Just a thought ... probably worth exactly what you paid for it.

lonewolf is good also check out rockyourglock (I think that is the site). I am in the process of upgrading my G22, an after market barrel without hexe blah blah blah is in my future. As for something different, there is nothing wrong with starting off a working platform like a glock, and upgrading it to be more "custom"

that used to be a glock 17, not mine, but I do like the extended beavertail and the finger grooves in the trigger guard.

You could also get a custom engraved back plate from MyGlockDoc.com. http://stores.myglockdoc.com/Categories.bok?category=Back+Plates%3AEngraved+Back+Plates

My favorites are the Punisher one, the 1* one, and the Biohazard one.

Another cool thing I've seen is getting the full size guns and having the grip length reduced to that of the compacts. You get the accuracy of the full size barrel with the concealability of the compacts. I hear these guys do good work when it comes to grip reduction: http://www.rosssportinggoods.com/612600.html

Now that make me laugh.....

Well I keep looking at the flame engraving at www.rockyourglock.com

They also do chrome plating, sell Lone Wolf slides. Lots of fun stuff.

Pix from Rock your Glock.

Glockmeister has some compensated replacement bbls too.

Customising is expensive, you likely won't break even anytime soon. We do these things because we love to mess with the guns and try to make them unique.

Don't be discouraged by the joking. My first thought about engraving a Glock was 'why?' too. Now the flames are on the to-do list. I get the same responses about custom grips and engraving S&W wheel guns too.

There are a couple of aftermarket manufacturers that make slides and frames. A few that do barrels (of varying lengths and with compensator or threaded) and various other parts. So, you can have quite a bit of customization on your Glock if you so desire.

Another common modification I see is grip reduction and stippling, to make the weapon fit the individual shooter's hand better.

I don't think I've ever seen a "Tigerstriped" slide on a Glock, but with Duracoat, anything is possible.

Thinking about a tiger-striped Glock with a threaded barrel makes me vomit a little bit inside. I lost the cookies entirely with the flamed thing.

You can build an entire Glock clone without using a single Glock part if that's what you want to do, the new Lone Wolf frames look kind of neat, I think it would be cool to build my own completely from after-market parts.

if you want stainless slide and threaded barrel I reccomend geting the slide either np3'd or having the original finish removed down to the tennifer and in stalling a glock 35 barrel and having it threaded

I think its interesting the two markets.

1911 customization is one thing, Glock customization is another.

Glock customs have wolves, bright colors, flames, punisher heads and nuclear symbols.

Sorry. I will have to pass on that.

I think the best thing that can be done to a glock to personalize it would be laser engraving the slide with something you want, and some new sights. thats it.

Here's my custom Glock 30SF.

Glock30SF.jpg

On the outside there are Meprolite tritium night sights.

On the inside are polished internals and the Glockmeister stock/competition trigger package.

It ain't what it looks like outside that matters, it's what's inside that counts!! ;)

Trust me, this G30 rocks!!

haha I know. I am a cz fan but i thought for future reference what the heck i might as well just to get one even though they are as ugly as sin.

But let's just say that I am used to the CZ's and their beauty.

Some of Gary Wendell's Work.....

Now this is what i like. I love the rounded edges at the front and back of the slide. now it doesn't look so much like a Block (legofection) and more like a prettier pistol. I really like that. as well as the rounded trigger guard. This is a much prettier pistol! why doesn't glock do this in the first place!!!?

Yeah, well, I didn't mean to bash your idea or anything. Actually, dehorning a Glock does help it in the looks department, IMO.

I'd just browse through as many photos as possible online to get yourself some ideas, then find a class act shop to do the work.

Best of luck!

You can set up one to do about anything you want to do...I use this one to shoot around the house...Its a Glock 20 10mm with a 6" Storm Lake barrel and it loves the Hornady 200 gr. XTP/HP's. IM000540.jpg
