Hey guys,
Would anybody out there have the specs for cutting a frame for a wilson/nowlin ramped barrel? Any links, pics would be great. Trying to fit a STI .38 super barrel and slide in a springfield frame. Thanks
Get the tooling and guide bushings from Brownells.
The cutter is very long to use without additional support.
You do have access to a milling machine, right?
This is not drill press work.
Yes, I have access to a bridgeport millling machine at my local gunsmith. He is going to help me but he has never performed this cut before. He is depending on me for the info. I have over 10 years experience as a machinist but not on guns. I also have a small millling machine from grizzly. I looked a brownells and they have dropped the cutter from inventory. It was called a bridge cutter. It looked like you stand the frame vertically and it had a bushing to center itself. Brownells has a article where they build a 1911 and they leveled the frame and take a .375 cutter and cut between the frame rails .315 deep , that I understand but I'm confused on the rest of the operation. Thanks Rick
