Dunno if I should be allowed to brainstorm or not... I was thinking about converting the hammer/safety system on a 3" 1911 clone by installing a Cylinder and Slide "Safety Fast Shooting System" so I could carry the midget in my pocket as a BUG.

In order to streamline the hammer for pocket carry, I was wondering if anyone has substituted a C&S Warp Speed hammer for the stock hammer in the SFS kit? If there's anyone out there with a stock SFS kit, would you tell me if you can, how much alteration to an OEM hammer would be required?

Here's a real biggie--does anyone know where I can buy a C&S SFS kit? They might be discontinued... the secretary at C&S says, "no", but no one could tell her when they'll make another run, and Brownell's (and a couple other vendors) are out of stock.

Thank you.

You want to carry a 3" 1911 in your pocket???

You might want to try it first cocked & locked in a good pocket holster before spending all that money to convert it to SFSS.

Most folks pockets aren't that big unless you wear farmers overalls!!
And most folks would find getting beat on the leg by a 30+ oz pocket gun every step pretty tiresome in short order.

If you insist, you might want to look at a Para Companion with the LDA trigger. It has a true Double-Action trigger system, and no hammer with a henge in the middle like the SFSS.

This would be a second carry gun, not a primary CCW. I wanna stay with the 1911 for the ergonomics and almost "common" magazine.

Well, I don't know how much experiance you have with pocket guns.

But I'm here to tell you most people will find a 20 ounce steel J-Frame S&W to be a pain in the butt, or rather leg, after a full days pocket carry.

A 30+ ounce 1911 shorty in your pants pocket is going to be way more then most folks will, or can put up with all day.

Don't worry about the weight, I've pocket carried an Mk40 or an SP101 before and you will adapt.

Pocket size, OTOH, will be a problem. Even overalls have smaller pockets now. Dockers are about the only pants I can think of that have pockets with enough room.

When you get 'er built don't forget to show us pix.
