The CZ97 grip is not a problem for me. I checked one out at a local gunstore. I had to add a grip sleeve (hogue handall) to my CZ40B for some added girth!

In that case, you have a serious firearm mistress waiting on you:p

I have posted the mods on my 97 before, so I'll recap for you:

1) Order the CZ Competition Hammer from Ghost Holster (Angus Hobdell), $58.00
2) Order 2 Wolf mainsprings, a 13 & 14#'er, about $4.00 each
3) Have some quality punches on hand

Simply install the CZ Comp. hammer and start with a 13# mainspring. If you're up to it, you can give your CZ a "jewel" like action by doing the following (but not necessary unless your anal like me):

1) Remove the sear block pin, chuck it up in a dremel and using 2000 grit paper, polish until it looks like glass
2) Polish the sear face with a dremel felt wheel using a super fine jewelers polish until glass like
3) Polish the underside of the comp. hammer hooks with 2000 grit paper

You simply won't believe the results. Takes about 1.5 hours to do everything taking your time. Leave the hammer hooks alone, don't cut or modify, same thing with the sear face. My 97 trigger breaks like a high end 1911 and is just ultra silky smooth. When others feel the action they usually say, " wow".

will that hammer and those mainsprings work in a Witness 10mm?

Spartacus 2002,

No. If you have the newer large frame Witness, the mainsprings are totally different (I have a Witness Elite Match 45). You can get lighter mainsprings from Hennings in Colorado. I just got 13 & 14# mainsprings and they make a significant improvement.

The Witness hammer is quite a bit wider than a CZ.

As a side note, picked up my CZ40B this morning. What a freakin' deal. The 40B is every bit a CZ with a few things that, in my opinion, are even better.

1) Steel guide rod
2) Twisted steel recoil spring (looks just like a Sig)
3) Excellent sights
4) Very good to excellent grip frame, offering typical CZ comfort
5) Extremely tight slide to frame fit
6) Nose of the top round in the mag is very close to the chamber (reliability?)
7) Uses CZ custom shop components just like the 75 series

For $289.00 plus shipping, I feel this is the best deal on a pistol I have ever had. Period.

Congats Schmeky, now go out and shoot it...thats the only way to truly appreciate what a deal you just got:) I smile every time I think how cheap it was to purchase and how SWEET it is to shoot!!!

plus 200 some rounds today through my 40b at the match. didn't let me down. accuracy was dead on and i was able to call all my shots up to 40+ yards. :)

burningsquirrels,
Calling all your shots at 120', you must be Superman!
I have been range shooting for 50 years and have never seen anything like that, please tell me,(us) your secret.
I shoot at a police range every week.
Thanks,Floydster
