A couple days ago I posted about torque settings on my CZ 457 Varmint MTR.
Some members suggested I should use better ammo than Norma TAC 22.
My action screw setting are 15 p/i on the forward screw and 20 p/i for the rear.
I went to the range yesterday and zeroed the scope in
.After all adjustments, I shot a couple targets at 50 yards with 5 shots each using Norma TAC 22.
BTW these targets are printed on 1/8" graph paper.

FWIW, Norma TAC22 is the go-to choice for my 457 At-One, with similar results to the OP's. Nothing like a good cheap date!

I recently picked up a new 457 Pro Varmint... got it scoped up and shot when I got home with it... it's crazy accurate with CCI standard velocity. it's shoots so well I went straight back to th store to order another... unfortunately it'll be a bit there was over 400 on backorder.

It's a great rifle with many improvements over the 455... my 455 is stainless with a nitrided bolt and the 457 is much more smooth... the 457 also has a real working safety on it versus I'm not really sure what that thing on the 455 is but it sucks.

IME, 3/8" groups at 50 yards with lower-priced ammo out of a good gun is about the best one can expect (once you find the particular ammo that suits that gun). The frustrating thing with this type of ammo is that if you fire more groups, you'll most likely find that that pesky group-ruining flyer is pretty persistent.

TAC-22 is one of the best-shooting lower-priced ammo in some of my CZs and BRNOs. A clear step up from TAC-22 in most of my guns is SK Pistol Match, which cuts the size of a good TAC-22 group by about half, and reduces the flyers to about a quarter as many, but costs about 2x as much. The law of diminishing returns is definitely at play in .22 LR ammo. I bought a good bit of the Pistol Match at about $.10/round back before Dr Faucci's partners released their virus and screwed up the world, but with the SK stuff at almost $.20/round these days, something like TAC-22 looks pretty attractive.

Agree 100%

While I like TAC for cost effective practice, the occasional flyers don't go away and the appear every couple groups or so. Even when I used my EC Tuner with TAC, the groups shrunk, but the flyers remain, just not as pronounced.

The ES and SD is also higher than the match stuff, so the flyers stand out more as the distance increases. All of these are 10rd strings

It's funny, but at 50 their group size mirrors their chrono stats..

My experience with that ammo hasn't been great. It will shoot a very good group one time, then the next time out will put 4 in a tight group with another shot well outside the group. I think it has the potential to be good ammo, but the consistency isn't there.

Just to add, the ammo I'm using is some that I bought during the last ammo shortage a few years back. Current production may well be better.
