Thought everyone might be interest in a little email I got from Mike at CZ-USA. I was wondering about the ability of the CZ-527 Carbine to handle 5.56mm NATO Spec ammo. I searched several forums but couldn't find an answer, so I emailed the company.

The 527 .223 has a CIP spec chamber and will handle all 5.56x45mm ammunition
under 60gr bullet weight(due to 1 in 12" twist).

As such, I have just now moved this rifle to the top of my BUY list. :)

PS I don't know who Brian Welch is, but I think he's also an employee of CZ-USA.

yep, I have two , well worht the money, go with winnie big box white 45 grn ammo, and black hills, 55 grain, blue boxes. Also , believe it or not, it doesn't do to bad with standard remmington yellow/green box, and even wolf, in 62 grains. That will be about the heaviest you can use. mine did not like any of the 62 grain milsurp stuff. If you can find the russian made tcw, white box, with the 56 grain polytip, those will be absolutely lights out, baby!!!

If it's anything like my carbine in 7.62x39, you'll love it. Quick handling, light and nice trigger. Sometimes I watch TV while holding it...just because I like the feel of it. Sounds weird, but you'll understand.:D
