I really have yen for one of these. I prefer short barreled "brush" guns. As an example I'm probably the only one that ever bought a Ruger 77/44, the 18.5" 44 mag bolt gun. I like the CZ 527 carbine. I saw one in .223 around here for $550. Yikes! I see em on gunbroker in 762X39 and.223 for $439, but by the time I get it here to me total cost to me will be around $500. Anybody have one of these?

I don't have one, but they've really been tempting me. Neat little mini-Mausers.

To me, there are only two drawbacks: the safety is backwards and they take detachable magazines. If they'd at least change the safety, I could learn to live with the detachable mags. A regular magazine with a hinged floorplate would be really nice, though.

Best,
Joe

Had one for a while. It was a light, well stocked (nice wood) handy little carbine with a few drawbacks. The first was the set trigger which I could never get right. Either the unset pull was too heavy or the set pull was feather light. Finally I set the trigger as I wanted it and didn't use the set option.

The magazine lips were razor sharp and gouged the brass severely, to the point I was not comfortable reloading it. This was solved by a local gunsmith who knew his business and stoned the mag lips.

Mine was accurate enough. It would put three shots into .75" with most handloads and under an inch with most factory. I don't recall the safety being reversed but it's been a while.

I have a CZ 527 .223 rifle and it's great. Very accurate. The set trigger on mine is perfect. I had the same sharp feed lips on the mag, but I fixed that with a piece of sandpaper. The detachable mag is a handy option because you can, of course, get extra mags. The action is great. I really like the Bavarian style stock on mine (Turkish walnut.) I heartily recommend the CZ.
