As the last of this springs projects, ordered a Bell and Carlson stock made specifically for this rifle with heavy barrel and detachable mags. The rifle has been sitting quite some time as was having difficulty making it fit with limited scope mounting options putting scope too high and forward. However the rifle has excellent accuracy potential, despite it's 1::12 twist.

Bell and Carlson is making their standard stock for this rifle with a 12.5 in lop. It is fully free floated with an aluminum stock insert. Anyone still have a CZ-550 308 varmint with a Bell and Carlson stock? Yea, should have asked before ordering but they have decent on line reviews.

Any comments certainly welcome, thanks

I don't have the B&C stock, but my 2002 model 550 Varmint .308 is the most consistently accurate rifle I've ever owned or fired (out of probably 60 or 70). It shoots pretty much everything I've tried in it really well (all factory loads as I've never loaded for it). The best has been Federal Gold Metal Match 168 grain Sierra Match King, which will do .25" at 100 yards pretty consistently, but even hunting loads are close to half-MOA. I just can't say enough good about this gun because it's also my most satisfying rifle to shoot due to the weight (pleasant recoil) combined with the consistent accuracy. And I like the feel of the big Mauser action and the few-ounces set trigger.

One thing I noticed is that it is not free floated. The stock contacts the barrel at the tip of the forearm. Since it out-shoots all 20+ other rifles that I have, most of which are free floated, I don't think I should free float it.

Nice Rifle! Have a number of CZ's, and all but one are very accurate. However the 308 varmint owned needed the muzzle crown recut to do it. Am also particular to the earlier CZ's, and yours has a very nice stock and excellent bluing! Mine came with the kevlar HS precision stock. Just ordered some ring bases that move the scope rearward, in addition to the shorter lop. Am 5'8", and short arms. The 308 550's are on standard actions and cut to fit larger people. For the accuracy you're getting, also wouldn't change a thing. Want to adapt mine, without cutting on it and being able to return it to original.
