cz 75 sp-01 owners wanted

I found old 75 had long trigger reach (even at half-cock) and was extremely heavy with fully loaded mag in place. I have no experience with the sp-01
 
i have the 75B right now..agree on the trigger but once i got use to it i had no trouble...i think the long pull is because of the double/single action thing..not really sure though
 
SP-01 is larger, and slightly heavier, carriers more ammunition, and has a rail. Two versions, one standard safety and one called the Tactical with decocker. A third version, the one I carry, is a polymer frame with decocker, the Phantom, an excellent pistol.
I don't think the trigger reach is any different between the standard CZ-75B and the SP-01. It seems to be the same between the PCR and the P-01, at least for me.
I would hazard a guess that you're not planning on carrying concealed? If so, you might need the excellent IWB rig from High Noon, the Down Under, which lets my SP-01 Phantom disappear under a t-shirt. :)

I shoot the 9mm 75B da/sa pistol, and my son shoots a 9mm SPO1 Shadow.
The SPO1 has a higher grip/upswept beavertail that makes follow-on shots faster.(The "stainless 75B also has this same beavertail)
The SPO1 has more weight along the barrel that reduces muzzle flip and felt recoil.
The SPO1 mags are 18rd mags (holds 19 rds), and also accepts 75B mags and vice-versa. Very nice feature if you own both guns.

Trigger reach is identical. Several slightly different trigger shape options are available.
The 75B is a little lighter, so some find target transitioning is a little faster with the lighter weight.

Versions of the SPO1 are one of the most popular IPSC competition pistols in Europe and other countries overseas.

The bottom line as I see it is the SPO1 is easier to shoot accuately and holds more ammo.

I do plan on carrying it a little but I'm a very big man...offensive lineman big and can/have concealed full size pistols so that is not an issue ...the phantom is a probably not do to I just the fact I love the steel frame and rubber hogue grips..I still like the phantom and considered it before my last Cz...as for the shadow..probably be a little out of my price range since I already spent 1800 on a custom AR and am also buying my girlfriend a sig 22 mosquito for her bday ..like what I'm hearing so far guys
 
Tex, you don't have to be a big man to carry an SP-01 concealed - I'm 5'11" and 220 pounds. The High Noon Down Under IWB rig with High Noon Rock Steady gun belt make it work, even in AZ summer heat. :)
 
The advantage of the SP-01 is that's its designed for IDPA and USPSA competition. A bit heavier in the front to help offset barrel flip, and with larger margs. Trigger work on either model will make either gun great, and you can use the higher-capacity SP-01 mags in the 75B. (The SP-01 is, in effect, a 75B with a slightly different frame with an extended dust cover.)

Notice, too, that there are several different versions of the SP-01, some with a polymer frame, some with decockers, some in steel, etc. There's more than one SP-01.

Yes I am aware after the number of sp-01...any version in all stealis what I'm looking for..nothing against polymer just want all steel in this particular weapon ...in my personal opinion I think cz should be more popular than glock ...I love czs
 
Primary difference really comes down to whether you like a decocker or a safety. I prefer the decocker, but only marginally.
 
I owned a SP01 Custom. It was an amazing gun. Very smooth shooter with a sweet trigger. Big, heavy sucker, with lots of metal at the front end, and that really helped control recoil.
 
Several 75B's, P-01, PCR and SP-01 custom as well as a couple of clones. LOVE the SP-01 for steel shoots etc but I do not carry it. Considerably heavier than the others, very accurate, half the trigger pull in distance and weight but that is likely due at least part in the "custom". Stays on target after the shot.
 
It is a heavy gun but makes an awesome range gun. The all steel gun you won't want to try to conceal and carry on a belt holster. It is a hard gun to find holsters. Extremely reliable and comes with night sights. You can choose between a decocker gun and a safety gun and you manually lower the hammer.

Some even say the CZ 75 is as reliable as the Sig 226.
