CZ 85 instead of 75?....Also Omega trigger info?

Planning to acquire a CZ 75/85 soon......What reason would one NOT want an 85 over the 75 and does anyone have one of the new 75's with the Omega trigger job and what's the story on that?.......Why would you not want one of these (better trigger, Omega's) over a standard 75B?

I'm not a big ambi safety fan so I really wanted the 75B. Otherwise there appears to be very little difference between the two models. As for the Omega trigger, I have not fired one, but it would be hard to improve the 75B's SA trigger. My understanding is the omega has fewer parts and is an improvement in DA mode. The DA trigger is mainly determined by the power of your mainspring.

Fewer moving parts would be nice. I'd like to take one appart and see how they did it, though.

My CZ75B with my very own trigger job is really nice.

But yes, the 85 is justl ike the 75 but with ambi controls.

75B does have ambi safety, but only the 85 has ambi slide release and mag release.

I must respectfully disagree. I have several CZ's, absolutely love every one of them, but the SA trigger quality was the worst features on every one of mine.

The 75B does NOT have an ambi-safety. At least not mine made in 1996.

Unless they've changed something, the 85 is the ambi safety and the 75 has a single safety.

the 75b in stainless and the .40SW 75B have ambi safeties. the std run of the mill 75B is single sided.

85 has trigger with overtravel stop, no firing pin block, ext mag release, ambi safety, ambi slide release levers and adjustable sights.
those are the area of differences with the std 75B.

the 75B with Omega trigger.
gun itself has upswept beavertail and ext mag release.
it has a slightly different setup internally. no ejector housing, but uses a full width pin to retain the sear and FPB lever. ejector is fitted into a slot in the frame, it also uses the wider SP01 Shadow hammer.
single action is better than the 75B because of the hammer, DA is still heavy.

Yes, I was referring to standard 75 not stainless.....That clears that up.

The ambi controls don't effect the trigger somehow? Why would one not want the ambi controls, what faults would there be? It just seems you don't see many 85's.....Is that just strictly because they're harder to come by or because people prefer the 75, for some reason I'm not aware of?

CZ's web site says the 85 has the firing pin block. Are you talking about the Combat? I'm looking at just the standard 85.

Haven't been able to find any in the local shops 75 or 85 but it appears in the photos that new 75 has a black coated barrel like the frame and slide. Is this so? I definitely like the contrast of the silver barrel on the black poly guns but not sure they make them that way anymore. The 85 appears (in pics - CZ web site) to not have the black barrel.....That would be a good thing for my taste.....Can anyone confirm this?

EERW is talking about the CZ85 Combat not the CZ85B. The 85B is nothing more than an ambidextrous CZ75B. The 85B is only worth buying if you are left handed.
