CZ handgun I drank the Kool-Aid

Not sure what the technical name is but I bought a 75 (before the B came out) new about 30 years ago before they were readily available or popular. I bought it because I was shooting IPSC and weaned something in 9 (shooting minor) with high capacity and disliked Glock triggers.

I shot it for a few matches and felt it had promise and wound up getting the slide milled and Bomar sights put on and the trigger converted to SA. It’s a terrific shooter and feels great and accuracy is excellent. Saying all of that, I rarely shoot it now and should shoot it more but I never fell in love with the feel of the trigger. I’m a dedicated 1911 shooter and the triggers are just different. It’s not bad, just different.

I’m considering getting it converted back to DA now. When I go out to shoot I just never think about it which is ashamed. It’s never malfunctioned with factory mags and never been a problem. The finish I a bit rough now and I’m thinking about getting it cerakoted. I’m thinking about doing it in bright colors just for kicks.

Looking at it inside it’s a bit rough in finish compared to even the cheap 1911’s but it functions and functions smooth. This could be partly due to my pistol was an early one.

The only failure I had was due to an extended magazine that the spring wasn’t strong enough to push up that many rounds under rapid fire. I think it held 27 rounds.

advising someone looking at one, I’d look at a CZ, a Beretta and some 1911’s. See what fits and what shoots good for you. Guns are a lot like shoes, if they aren’t a good fit you’ll never shoot them.

CZ makes some very well built guns. I think if they were in the US in larger numbers, they would be a little more popular. I had to go looking for the ones I own.
