Anyone out there got the .22 LR conversion for the CZ 75? Like it?

How are they on:
accuracy?
sights?
reliability?

What is a reasonable price for these?
Where is the best place to get one?

I have one and like it a lot. It is as accurate as my Ruger MKII 6 7/8. It seems as reliable, but that is less than 100% for either. The Ruger has a habit of jamming now and then, which isn't that big of a problem for a range gun. The Kadet has a bad habit of misfiring, and sometimes it takes a few strikes to finally set off the round.

I read on CZ forum where one member disassembled his and smoothed the firing pin somehow, which solved the problem. I've also read that this is not an unheard of problem with these units. Other than the reliability annoyance, I'm happy with it. Oh, by the way, extra mags are expensive and hard to find.

My experience duplicates Mr. e's...

I traded my Ruger Mk II Target Competition (long, slabside barrel) after I bought mine. Mine is very accurate. And like mr. e, I have infrequent failures to fire -- but I had that experience with the Ruger, too. Cheap ammo, mostly.

Some ammo leaded up the barrel of my Ruger badly, but haven't had that problem with the Kadet Kit.

Mags aren't too expensive (around $30) from CZ-USA. But how many do you need for a gun at the range?

Mine sometimes doesn't lock back on one mag, but since its a non-critical function, I haven't bothered to figure it out or fix it....

Does anyone know if the Kadet unit will fit on the .40 S&W CZ frame? I've got one and I'd consider buying a .22 upper for it, but I'd like to know if it'll fit first.

Yep, like mr. e and Walt, have one and like it a lot!

Reliability-wise, given the apparent QC standards on .22 ammo, I don't know that 100% is realistically acheivable (and like mr. e also said, it's not that big a deal with a range gun). I've had misfires, too, but there's always a nice dent in the rim. If a second try won't set it off, I blame the cartridge, heave it downrange manually, and move on... Typically bring at least 300 rds. to a range session and would estimate pitching a dud only happens every third-to-fifth visit. I've tried a box or two of everything I could get my hands on at the gun shows (with the exception of the powderless Aguila Colibris -- no sense *begging* for a squib round), and while some of the subsonics won't reliably cycle the slide, they all make it to the target. Many Whatever's-at-Wallyworld bricks have fired and functioned just fine.

Accuracy is in the 'better than I can shoot' category. I use the Kadet to dispatch those little 'extra' dots that come on the sticker sheets of Shoot-n-C targets.

The sights are clear, and it comes with a Mec-Gar fully adjustable rear. (I got the same sight for the 9mm slide from CDNN, so this is ideal -- same trigger, controls, and even same sight picture in either caliber!)

Paid about $250 for mine a year ago from the local store -- didn't really shop around, as I had a much more lucrative job at the time... :uhoh: They've shown up for less on CZForum (great bunch of folks over there -- especially the respected and esteemed Mr. Sherrill! -- and lots of goodies in the Kadet Klub). The kit came with two mags and some rudimentary cleaning tools, which in my case have been fine (mags) and tossed (tools).

SDC: I've no experience with .40s, but you might search or post over at CZForum -- quite likely somebody's done it, or tried, and would share their findings...

Good luck getting your own, antsi, and enjoy! :)

CZ Kadet's Rock!

I use a Kadet on my CZ-75B military and love it! It has probably about 5000+ rounds through it.

Mine is completely reliable (it came with the newer type firing pin) with all the ammo I've tried in it. It's more reliable than my Dad's new Buckmark shooting the same ammo.

It's as accurate as any Buckmark or Ruger MKII I've ever shot.

The sights are just fine. They are similar to the CZ-75 fixed sights, but are adjustable.

I bought mine from Jake at http://www.northeastfirearms.com/ However, that was a couple years ago. I don't know if he still sells them.

I have one for my "pre-B."

It used to misfire.
I replaced the round tip firing pin with the chisel tip firing pin and ignition is now as good as any .22

It does not eject 100%.
CZ sent me a new, thicker ejector which helped but did not completely cure it. There is a fix by filing the ejector to slight angles in both planes, but I have not tried that yet.

It feeds 100%. These are the best .22 magazines that I have ever seen, even though they are in double stack 9mm tubes.

It is as accurate as I can hold with the slightly adjusted CZ trigger. I would not shoot bullseye with it, but it is a great practice tool for IDPA. (Don't bother double-tapping with a .22, you will get funny ideas. Hang two targets and switch back and forth for speed drills.)

My Ruger hasn't left the safe since I got an 85b with Kadet conversion. Very reliable with CCI MiniMags.

Yes, the conversion unit works on the 40 cal CZ 75. However, for the slide to lock back after the last round is fired you must use a slide stop from a 9mm version of the 75.

The earlier Kadet kits seem to be more problematic (not that they have a *lot* of problems to begin with).

If you have one and it is not ejecting properly or stovepiping, jump over to the czforum.com and see some of the posts regarding changing the angle on the ejector. This has helped many people cure their woes...

The CZ Kadet Kit .22 conversion unit is one of the best out there. It will fit all the CZ-75 style pistols including the compacts adn PCR. I use mine on the PCR a lot.
