Anyone know how the accuracy of the CZ Kadet stacks up compared to the Marvel Unit II? The Marvel website states the typical accuracy of the Unit II is 0.5 to 1" at 25 yards (the Unit I is about half that!). I hear both are quality kits but I haven't seen much accuracy data on the Kadet.

The Kadet Kit is one of the most accurate conversion kits I've seen -- far more accurate than the Ceiner kits that are made under that name or under the Kimber or Wilson name (or for Berettas, etc.) But, it isn't as accurate as a Marvel kit. Few guns are.

I've shot a Marvel, and I have a Kadet... (My Kadet kit mounted on my 85 Combat was as accurate as my stainless Ruger Target Competition with a long Bull Barrel. I traded the Ruger for a Witness .45 Sport Long Slide and
kept the Kadet.)

But I use the Kadet as a training aid and an inexpensive way to shoot my 75B Compact and 85 Combat. I don't use it for bullseye competition -- which, arguably, is what the Marvel was designed to do best. The Kadet Kit works with SA or DA/SA guns. It works with the decocker models.

Chances are, however, YOU won't be able to shoot well enough to take advantage of the Marvel kits accuracy... (I sure as crap can't.)

Do you already have a CZ-75 or a 1911? If so, which do you want to shoot more? Which do you WANT to shoot more. That will probably make the decision for you.

The Marvel is the most accurate but buy what ever platform you like to shoot the most. BTW, I haven't found a Kadet that can take my Ruger. :p Bren

I used to have both and shot them side by side often. Shooting from a rest, the Marvel is clearly more accurate by a considerable margin. However, I found it to be very picky about what ammunition it would feed.

I traded off the Marvel and kept the Kadet because it feeds just about anything and like Walt said, I couldn't shoot well enough to appreciate the accuracy difference.

I own both the Kadet and a Marvel (Unit 1). The big difference to me is that when the Kadet unit is installed it becomes a “real†gun. By this I mean the all steel construction allows for the same mechanical operation and manual of arms as a standard CZ-75. The slide locks back on an empty mag and manual slide releases are OK. The Kadet is also equal to or better than most common 22s (Rugers, Brownings etc.) in terms of accuracy and reliability. The Marvel due to it’s aluminum construction requires me to operate it differently then I do my 1911s. It is however incredibly accurate, but this comes with greater ammunition sensitivity and less tolerance for normal crud buildup.

I've owned both but have ended up selling both as well. As far as accuracy goes, I think the Marvels have it all sewn up... I've seen sample targets with .3" groups at 25 yards. But... and this is something to think about... how many .3" groups have you ever shot a 25 yards? How many 1" groups have you ever shot at 25 yards? I'd done an awful lot of shooting of awful accurate guns from improvised rests and I have very few 2" groups to show for it. If you aren't twice as good a shooter as I am, then that increased accuracy isn't going to help you out very much.

I didn't have much trouble with my Marvel. I pretty much shot Federal Lightnings and the loose bulk packs of Winchester Spuer-X. The Cadet would shoot pretty much any high velocity ammo. Overall, I would say the Cadet is more reliable with a wider variety of ammo, but if the Marvel works with the ammo you want to use, it doesn't really matter.

I guess what I'm trying to say is pick which gun (1911 or CZ) you like to shoot more and get the conversion kit for it and start shooting. :p If you want bullseye accuracy, the Kadet won't give it. If you want to have infinitely cheap practice time with your CZ, the Marvel won't give it.

I don't need Marvel Unit 1 accuracy but I'd sure like to get at least 1" groups at 50ft. Can the typical Kadet group 1" at 50ft? If not then I'd get the Marvel Unit 2 which looks like it do 1" at 50ft all day long.

Even I can get 1" groups at 50' with my Kadet. (From a rest, of course. Sure wish I could do it offhand, too.)

More seriously, the problem for me (and many shooters, for that matter) has more to do with eyes than the gun.

(If I use a Merit optical attachment I can generally get very small groups, but shooting as I would in a self-defense situation, my eyes just aren't up to very small groups...)
