Recently did a survey about a carry gun and the cz p01 won by 82%. I did some more research and have found 3 more options now for Wichita way to go. So would you rather carry iwb the Cz pcr vs p-01 vs p-06?

I selected the CZ PCR. Mine is light with its alloy frame but very comfortable when shooting full powered defensive ammunition. I have carried it in an IWB hybrid holster with ease.

I have shot a few rounds in a P-01. It was comfortable to shoot as well. But I was shooting plain ball ammo that did not seem to be up to Gold Dot's level of power.

I know nothing about a P-06 except that it is a P-01 in .40 S&W. I don't think I have ever seen one in the wild.

Most definitely it's got to be the P01 because that's the only one I own!

Sorry, couldn't resist!

But seriously I have found the P01 to be very easy to carry concealed with a DeSantis OWB holster as it keeps the gun tucked in very close to my side. If I were to go to an IWB holster I would look at something like Stealth Gear's Mini Ventcore holster.

PCR if you're never going to hang a light or laser on it.

P01 if you may use it for home defense and may want to hang a light or laser on it.

I have the PCR, but wouldn't mind a P01 for a small home defense gun. Not that the P01 has to be a home defense gun, I just think the little rail offers some versatility.

I've been happy with my PCR since I bought it new in 2000. I don't need a light on a carry gun, and its a good HD gun also.

My preference would be a 75 compact (with the safety so I can carry cocked and locked.

So I voted other.

Any of the guns in this poll, plus the P07 (polymer framed) make fine carry guns IMO.

Loved my PCR.
I didn't plan to put a laser or light on it, so the extra bulk and weight was best left off.
My one complaint was that all the tritium sights I could find were for the P-01 and left a little gap in the top strap. Only cosmetic, but still.

I don't have the exact guns mentioned, but I do have guns similar enough to give me an idea of what I'd like. My CZ 40P has the same alloy frame and grips as the P01 and P06, and that grip feels better in my hand than almost all other handguns. Of course, that's a personal perspective that may not apply to others.

I also have a CZ 75 compact, which is almost the same gun as the PCR, but with the heavier steel frame. The compact is one of the best guns I own, but I always regret nor having bought the lighter weight PCR, because the 75 compact is just too heavy to carry around all the time. Although the compact didn't feel quite as good in my hands as the CZ 40P or P06, it still felt good (once I ordered the rubber grips and extended baseplates.)

The P06 and 40P are technically "compact" but don't really feel like it. The 75 compact and PCR are a little smaller, I think, so I voted for the PCR as the best chioice among the CZ's mentioned.

CGW and czCustom both have tritium sights just for the PCR that will take care of the little gap.

I chose the P01 over the PCR because it felt a little better in my hand. I have an on-again, off-again relationship with the .40 so I passed on the P06.

Me too on both of these points. Tried the P01 and the P07 (they had a P06 but no PCR available), and liked the feel of the P01 quite a bit more than the P07. Have had several .40 S&W pistols but never kept them for very long. Not so much a fault or problem with the guns themselves; just didn't care all that much for the performance of the cartridge. But then I think back to the great ammo shortage and how .40 S&W was still available when 9mm. and .45 were no where to be found. Has me thinking maybe I should have at least one again and pick up some more ammo while I'm at it (believe I still have some leftover ammo from the last time I owned one).

I don't like carrying IWB in general, and I especially wouldn't with a double-stack pistol, but really, PCR vs P-01 just comes down to if you want a rail or not. I highly recommend either, as long as it has the decocker. I never knew the difference til I got my PCR, and now I want a decocker on all my guns, since I don't want to fumble with flipping off a safety when needed. In the heat of the moment, motor skills are greatly degraded, and reducing operation to K.I.S.S. is paramount. I leave my home defense pistols in the "half-cocked" position, safety off (if they have actual safeties, rather than decockers).

P-06s are fairly rare, and a different caliber than the others you were considering- did you mean P-07? The P-07 is the newer polymer-framed (but still hammer-fired) CZ. The P-10 is yet another option on the polymer side, but it is striker-fired (it was created to compete with Glocks). I have only shot the metal-framed CZs, but would like to try the P-07/P-09 and P-10 someday.

It seem to me that the only problematic Cz's are those in the 40 s&w flavor. I know there's guy who have a 40 caliber Cz that has thousands of rounds with no problems, but most reports I've read of parts breakage and malfunctions with Cz's have been in 40 so I'd take the p01 or pcr in 9mm over the p06.

First, I'd narrow down the caliber. Most CZs are in 9 mm, and for good reason. Personally, I'd eliminate the P-06.

Then you're down to rail (P-01) vs no rail (PCR) if you go alloy framed, or there's always the polymer framed, hammer-fired P-07 or the polymer framed, striker-fired P-10C. All are basically the same size and shoot the same ammo. There are mag compatibility issues at play, as well. The P-01 and PCR will feed 75 mags, and you can get 15, 16, 17, and 19 round CZ 75 mags to fit in the P-01 or PCR. For that reason, you could carry 14+1 flush fit P-01 and a spare 19 round mag, and you're more than good to go. JM Custom Kydex holsters are great and made for many CZ guns.

Amongst the choices, I'd buy whichever one is available locally because I doubt many gunstores have all of them. Any of them would be a great choice.

If you feel strongly towards rails or lack thereof, choose accordingly. I'd personally just buy what I could find first, which is what I did.

I ended up with a P01 (stamped 75D Compact oddly enough). I WANTED a P01 Omega, but they're still pretty rare as far as CZ's go. The regular P01 is serving an admirable job as a stand-in for the meantime.

If you look closely, bannockburn's P01 is stamped the same as mine. I think we bought them at roughly the same time, they're probably from the same batch.

IWB? Nothing...

On the other hand the PCR would make a great carry option since it doesn't have the rail. That being said my next gun will be a P-01

The explanation that I got from a CZ forum I found was the CZ 75 D Compact was it's European designation and that in order to fill a large order for P01s in the U.S., they sent these guns instead. Same gun, just different slide markings. All the paperwork with my gun, including the end label on the box, says it's a P01. I was just thrilled to find one; didn't even notice the slide markings til I got home!

PCR as it doesn't have a rail. I don't see the need for an accessory rail on a CCW, but that's just me. I have a green P-01 in my safe I've never fired as I was told they're somewhat collectible. I just liked the color. I carry my old G19 (which has a rail) but not as pronounced as the P-01.
