I’m usually pretty conventional when it comes to my rifles. I have quite a few friends that have made the switch to chassis rifles for deer hunting out here in Oklahoma. Me? I’m still hunting with one of my Mausers. Why argue with success right? I recently let a friend of mine, whom owns a gun shop, talk me into one of the CZ Scorpion 9MM carbines. Went ahead and took his advice and let him put a Holosun holographic sight on my carbine. He says it’s amazingly accurate...Me: “Well maybe...we’ll see.” Took it to the range this morning. OMG!!! 1” groups at 50 yards. 2” groups at 100 yards, and from a pistol caliber. Dead on the money. No additional sight adjustment necessary. It shoots anything I put in it. Hollow points, ball, truncated cone. It doesn’t care. Not one hiccup. On top of that the darn thing field strips in 5 seconds. Lock the bolt back. Push the retaining pin in front of the trigger group out & pull down to detach the trigger group. Reach in the receiver release the blow-back bolt and drop it out the bottom of the receiver...done. Who ever designed this carbine knew their stuff. Unreal!!!

If I get a 9mm carbine the cz will be the one. Glad you are liking it. I have also been looking at the pistol version with the brace. Would make for s nice little home defense weapon for my wife when I am out of town. Low recoil and a suppressor would keep it quiet

I’m not easily impressed. This darn thing is unbelievable. I’m not a small person. The carbine fit me better and is very comfortable to shoot. Thought about the pistol with the brace and my get one yet.

Here is a picture of mine, I have a Holosun Solar 403c sight on it.

As you mentioned, I find it surprisingly easy to shoot the CZ well. I wasn't entirely sure when I got it; but it has definitely become a favorite shooter. It is particularly good for shooting offhand. I suspect that it is partially because the CZ is so lite in comparison to other rifles.

When I first got it, I put a 3moa red dot on it and had no trouble keeping all of the shots under the red dot (from a rest). I now have a 2moa dot and I can still keep them under it, but I have to concentrate a bit harder.

(Yes, I realize mine isn't really a carbine. I decided to go braced instead of SBR because I travel between states a lot. I may change my mind later.)

As an anecdote only - I shot a friend's Stribog and CZ Scorpion EVO3 side-by-side, and I had a definite preference for the Stribog. The ergonomics of the Stribog worked much better for me, and it was more accurate / easier to shoot quickly.

I made no effort to conduct an in-depth review; it was just a range gun swap 'hey, try this' kind of thing. Both were outfitted with arm braces.

I've like the Scorpion since I first saw it. I just can't justify the $1k price tag, so I "settled" for a Hi Point. I still drool over the CZ's, and I understand there's a good reason they cost so much.

The bullpup carbine with my CZ, in that picture, is my Hi-Point.

Very nice, I was wondering what that was. Are those the stocks that must have come out just this year? I remember waiting for them after they were announced, but they kind of fell off my radar.

Yes, it is the HTA bullpup stock. So far I like it. However, I haven't adjusted the trigger yet. There are two set screws to adjust "take-up" and "over-travel." I also haven't come to a firm decision as to whether I like the handguard or not, it is removable and a sling point replaces it.

I've yet to see a Stribog ... VERY interesting!
They seem to be priced very competitively with the EVO (looking on GunBroker)... I really like the HST aluminum frame over the plastic of the EVO but I imagine its also heavier, and if they don't have a 922r US parts kit to SBR it you would be stuck with the brace ... if I didn't already own a SBR'd EVO I'd be very tempted.

I love my scorpion, but I'll be honest, it's got problems. The grip angle is way wrong, the safeties dig in your finger, and the trigger is just so very bad. So bad. All those issues can be fixed, but you shouldn't have to. The trigger isn't actually that hard to fix, and a new grip fixes the safety as well.
I really want to get ahold of a stribog as well.

At first i thought the EVO grip was too small, until I took a tape measure to it, and my AR ... while the standard AR grip is more oval, they are within about 1/8" of the same girth. I too thought the same thing about the angle of EVO grip, then I layed my MP5 clone on top of it, almost exactly the same, then an AR, again almost exactly the same angle ... then compared it to my 805 Bren and while it's a more like a straight tube with a flair at the bottom, its more alike than different ... but it doesnt change the fact that a lot of Americans dont like it. I, but then again I if its an American thing.

The trigger ... i dont know. I took some crocus cloth to mine and polished it up ... Maybe a lawyer thing? I can understand not having a smooth 2-stage 5 pound trigger, who is what I prefer, but as we all know that trigger all by itself adds minimum $125 to a build ... is it worth a crappy working trigger to keep the cost down and let those that want a better trigger pay for it?

The right side safety I dont think you'll find anyone that wont agree with you! if it was just a bit shorter, or different angle is all it would take! I went with the CZ delete option ... even they knew it wasnt good.

The ar trigger is really easy to mod and fix. The scorpion trigger is a bit more involved. I had to jbweld a couple of shims I cut out of a 308 case up in the trigger pack to take out a ton of the pretravel. After that you can either send the factory spring or use the hbi spring to lighten the pull. Doing that I can get a better than stock AR pull, but a match trigger it is not.
I tried the pakse and Apex grips and kept the pakse. I didn't love either of them as they keep the web of your hand up too high on the gun, but they're an improvement.
I truly believe the scorpion was a prototype gun they accidentally put into full production without actually holding and firing it.

The CZ is a neat design, glad it fits and shoots well for you.

With all the “looks evil” bans out here in CA I went PC Carbine for my 9mm fix. You guys were right, the 9mm in a small Carbine is a hoot!!

Stay safe!

About $12 and a little time will take that horrible 10lb trigger down to a pretty nice 4-5lb version. I think they did that intentionally for the "world" market, like the welded-in trigger pack screw.

Using the Scorpion like a SMG or carbine (using a stock) makes that right side safety a non-issue.

There's a good number of parts and modifications available from HBi, Manticore Arms, etc.

Exactly what I have found. People that shoot their scorpions without a stock or with an arm brace complain about the safety. Carbines and SBRs with the factory stock don't. Run the gun like you are wearing a plate carrier, square up to your target, tuck in your elbow... and suddenly no safety rubbing issue.

Two of my friends have bought Scorpions and every time I get to play with theirs I am very impressed. I have no problem with the grip angle or safety that so many people have.

If I wasn't trying to save for night vision I am sure a Scorpion pistol with the side folding brace would have followed me home by now. Of course once I get my NVG set up, an EVO with an IR LASER might make a fun toy for night shoots.
