If you don't have the money for a SIG, try some of the S&W autos. I bought a used 3913 for $375 in like-new condition, and it's a better pistol in just about every way to the CZ85 I have. I am completely underwhelmed by CZ's. The SIG P220 I have is superb.

I've fired a few Sig pistols (the 226 and 229 for sure, maybe some others that I got to try out on the range) and a 245 feels like butter in my hands. Heck, even the "bulky" 220 is ergonomic as heck. Just feels right.

The Sig pistol line is ultra reliable and wonderfully made. You don't get any better than a Sig.

... but heck if I'm going to buy one :)

The bore axis is too high for me. Sure it fits and shoots well, but I have an aversion to them. I REALLY do not like DA/SA pistols. Moot point, though, because that is what you're looking for.

I've got a buddy that's basically "Sig-for-life" -- and when he got his hands on my CZ pistols after they'd been broken in he loved 'em. Same thing with me when I play with his Sigs. Spiffy pistols on both sides. We differ in a number of points but I'll never say Sig sucks and he'll never say CZ sucks. Ponder this.

You have a slim chance of making a less than perfect choice here, but you have zero chance of making a BAD choice, truth be told.

I love every one of my Sigs, but for carry, I'd recommend you track down a CZ. The P01 is great, but has a rail, which may be something that you dont need for carry.

If you can find a 75 Compact PCR, that may suit you best of all. The gun fits my hand better than any I own. I usually carry my PCR instead of the Sigs, and it loves to eat +P hollowpoints.

Either SIG is an excellent weapon. I've owned both, and I still own the
compact P228. Wouldn't think of parting with it for any reason, as it
too is a 1990 West German production model; that came in the old
gray (or silver) cardboard box with red lettering.

Buy a CZ75. You will not regret it. I personally don't like double action pistols, but I do have an old CZ75 pre-import whose trigger pull is smooth as silk. When I first bought mine I read that there were basically four pistols used by special ops/special response teams: 1911, Sig 226, Browning Hi-Power and the CZ 75. I have owned all four. The only one that I did not keep was the Sig 226 (It is a fine pistol just not to my liking). Good Luck. yf

You must not be looking very hard...
On the contrary - I worked at an indoor range, and have fired many differant handguns, both rentals and customer guns. Partial list is - HKP7 and USPs, all the Glocks except the 18, Berreta, Taurus, Ruger, Smith,(love thier revolvers, autos don't fit me at all), SiG, (many differant ones including 220, 226, 230, 232, 229), Springfield,(loved the V10), Colt, HS, Llama, Jennings, (just once, was cleansed afterward), CZ, Witness, KelTec, (large and small), and a few other brands/types I can't remember. Oh, yeah, Luger and Mauser too, a nice broomhandle. All in all the best one for me is the CZ, and the PO1 works the best out of that line for me. You results may vary - that's why it is so nice we have such a large diverse range of handguns to try.
I must add I have never shot a HiPoint - never saw the need too....

If the CZ-75 performed well in the past and still is, I'll definitely go for thhe Cz-Po1. It was more extensively tested and came out with flying colors. The others are also very good pistols but The PO-1 is priced better for me. I tried it and it really shoots so well, I can not think of parting with it.
