First day out with the recently purchased CZ452 Lux (wanted an Ultra, but couldn't find one). I was only able to shoot at 25yards indoors. From a makeshift bench I was able to regularly get sub 1" groups at 25 yards with the excellent iron sights (Mauser type, adjustable for windage and elevation). Offhand I was able to hit a 1" Shoot'N'C regulary. I didn't have any plans to mount a scope, but I may have to in order to see what this baby can really do. Fit and finish is excellent. I will have to check the barrel channel in case any sanding is required, but it shoots really great right now. trigger was good as well, a little creep, but nothing of a hindrance. If anyone is looking for a great .22 with iron sights, I would recommend the Lux. Shoots as good or better than my FrankenRuger and cost significantly less. Wow!..I am impressed.

Im still kicking myself for missing out on a deal for one of these things. Local gunshop had a one for something like $250 and i was watching it every day untill i got my paycheck. Well once i had the money in my hands i just HAD to wait a day to 'be sure'. Well, a deal like that won't last forever and it was gone when i got there :banghead:

If you see one, don't pass it up. These are fantastic looking and shooting rifles.

They'll do better than half an inch at 50 yards with ammo they like.

Yes indeed. I re-discovered mine this morning, buried behind the pickup seat under my main rifle. Scraped some rust spots off the barrel's exterior, cleaned up the magazine and capped of ten rounds of CCI lead loads. Laser beam accurate, and a positive pleasure to shoot. Handles like a real rifle, perfectly balanced. It's on my all-time top ten firearm list for sure.

452s rock

I have the "trainer" model. My first .22. Very impressed with the accuracy and overall quality of the rifle. It was a heck of the bargain. Mounted a 4x Nikon Prostaff on it with see through mounts. Prolly my favorite rifle to shoot.

Does the Lux have any checkering on the forend? I want the iron sights, but will probably buy the M452 American, partly because I prefer that stock, partly to get a checkered forearm.

Might waffle if the Euro Lux has a checkered forearm...

Thanks,

Just recently picked up a 452 used from a friend, but I am not certain which model I have. What are the distinguishing characteristics of each? Mine has a hooded front sight, and a funky sight base on the barrel (mine was removed to permit lower scope mounting, and it has a "european" (forgive the term) look to the buttstock. Nicely finished walnut, I believe.

I was just shooting ratfink's 452 yesterday. Its a great little rifle.

Does the Lux have any checkering on the forend?
I know Ratfink's didn't have any checkering except on the grip

Salted, mine isn't a Lux, it's a Varmit.

Both my manual and the CZ website show the Lux without checkering on the for-end.

Hutch, check the CZ website to see which model you have.

I got a 452 Lux a year or so ago. Great little gun. I had special-ordered it and when it came in I had a heck of a time getting it out of the hands of the guys working at the store. They just kept passing it around inspecting it and commenting on how nice it was.

I had thought briefly about scoping it, but the irons work so well that it's staying stock (except for a sling) until my vision goes downhill.

I almost bought one, but the backwards safety turned me off. (I have a lifetime of "forward = fire," and I don't want to muck up my muscle memory.) Those who normally use a lever 30-30 shouldn't have any problem, though.

FWIW, Whittakerguns has a good rep and usually has some in stock.

The 452 Lux shoulders really well with the iron sights. The stock isn't what people are most used to seeing but it shoulders really well and is comfortable to shoot which is most important.

Sactown, I agree 100% the lux stock is bar none the best iron sight oriented stock I've ever used.
My CZ 22 is in my top 5 best gun purchases.
I anticipate my children and grandchildren will enjoy it as well since I'll never part with it.
