My CZ is light striking primers like mad (1 or 2 out of every mag of 8) and I was going to attribute it to the Romanian ammo but I shot yesterday side by side with my buddy and his CZ sharing ammo and he had no problems. So can someone diagnose this for me? Thanks!

The firing pins of cz52's are supposedly made of an inferior metal that is brittle. Have you been dry firing it?

A new firing pin made with modern metals should be fairly inexpensive.

My 52 had a pin protrusion problem when I first got it. The safety wasn't fully releasing it and shallow strikes resulted. A bit of grinding on the safety plunger allowed full movement and better ignition.

Recently, I put one of the Harrington pins in and it works well. Still was having the odd misfire with Yugo so invested in a new hammer spring. Ended up being around 2 coils longer than the old spring and really tightened up the hammer pull.

Forgive me this chance to show a couple of pics!

They're made of cast steel and hold up just fine unless the gun is dryfired.

You can get a new forged pin for around $20 or you can buy an original replacement for around $10.

No dry firing (by me - it is a surplus gun) and I do have another firing pin for it but I would almost think it woul dbe a spring not doing its job. I guess if the pin is not sticking out far enough that sure would do it though. Time for a good take down anyway. Thanks!
