The last time I went out to the range my CZ75 stopped functioning. Essentially, the double action sear stopped putting any pressure on the hammer.

For those who aren't familiar with the CZ75, when firing in single action the hammer does get cocked back maybe 1/32" by the double action sear, so at the range the hammer would drop half the time and the other half of the time it would catch on the 1/2 cock notch.

I got it apart and found pretty quickly that the trouble was caused by a lack of tension on the trigger transfer bar, which in turn was caused by the screw that holds in the trigger bar spring and the magazine catch spring shooting loose.

Now my question is, how common of a problem is this? And what could I do past locktite to prevent this from happening again?

This may be a question for one of the guys on the CZ forum. There are many guys there, including Angus Hobdell that really know their stuff on the CZ.

I had to remove "that" screw to install an extended mag catch in the gun, and it was a PITA to get loose! I'd clean it good with brake clean, and loc-tite it back together. I'didn't loc-tite mine, and it never loosened up.

don't underestimate loctite. I"ve got a used gun I can't adjust the trigger on because the set screw is locked into place with something and I can't get it loose.

I may be wrong here, but I believe cz's are essentially tangfolio witnesses, and henningshootsguns has a couple of good, yet low resolution, videos about a complete detail stripping and reassembly that might be helpful to you.

on my witness, tension is from a angled plunger below the bar that holds the mag release in place. it should not come loose. I have to pull the whole trigger free to get it out. (there are no screws in that area on a witness, only pins and springs and plungers, so that may not apply)

That is its job!:D Heat will ruin loctite, hopefully not the part. Pink for little stuff, blue for most other, red for needing heat to loosen.
