CZ75B vs CZ75 Compact?

My brother has a CZ75 and for me and my smaller size hand it's a bit of a reach to the trigger and the full size grip frame doesn't feel as comfortable as the more compact P01 that I have.

Obviously for carry, the compact would be more easily concealable, but I prefer to shoot the full size. I enjoy shooting the compacts a lot too, but I like the full size a bit better for extensive range use. I may even like the size of the 97B more than the 75 guns. I wear size L gloves, BTW, so I don't have overly large hands, but I like the feel of the 97B.

My PCR and P-01 are the same thickness and same reach in SA as the 75B by actual caliper measurement. So, the only difference I find is the length of the grip, and I prefer the rubber mag base so that my pinky finger doesn't ride the bottom metal with the compacts. The SP-01 has approximately a tenth of an inch less reach in SA, which surprised me, but that's what it measured.

Here's a photo that will give you a perspective of sizes.

I've had several 75B Compacts over the years -- and a bunch 75B full-sized models.. Great guns, all of them. That said, I never really noticed that much difference in concealability in the Compact compared to the full-size gun, and the weight, while less, is still substantial. I have never really "warmed" to decocker models, and only have ONE in my collection -- a Sphinx SDP, which I like despite the decocker function. I much prefer cocked & Locked carry, and would have gotten the SDP in that format had it been available when I got mine. It wasn't, back then.

What I always wanted was an alloy-framed Compact that had a safety, and CZ never offered that. Now, with the Omega fire control system, I think you CAN have the lighter alloy frame with a cocked & locked function. That would be the way I'd go, if I still wanted a compact, hammer-fired gun. (I picked up an older P-07 ("Duty") and it has all of the features I wanted, and I don't mind a polymer frame.)

All that said, I still don't understand why CZ doesn't offer an alloy-framed full-size gun -- particularly when its clear that the alloy-framed compacts are very durable. They seem to be missing a good opportunity!!

My P01 shoots about as good as my 75B, but also gets included in my carry rotation so I’d keep it over the 75B if could only have one. Gratefully, I don’t have to choose though

I have 75B that CZ Custom ship overhauled it’s awesome to say least was good not its great. I have P01 that is a great little gun too I put CGW Trigger and springs in it greatly improved trigger pull and made it lot better. Both are awesome I say get both can't go wrong either.

I've been absolutely enamored with the P01 for a few years now. TriStar also imports an excellent quality clone of it from Turkey, designated as the C100. I consider that style and that size of handgun just about my favorite, at least among auto-loaders.

Love the CZ compact. if you do decide to go with the compact, you ought to look into the CZ P01 first.

At least for me... There is a difference in the beaver grip angles between the two. (Visually I can't see the difference. But feeling wise... I do.)
And I find the P01 to be more comfortable to hold than the 75 compact.

The full size, the 75 compact, and the P01.. get all three.

I really like the CZ compact guns too. When you say "compact," are you talking about the 75 D PCR, or the steel-frame compact. I can say with certainty that there is no difference in the frame of the Compact PCR and the P-01. I didn't think there was any difference in the steel one, but I don't own that one so I can't say for certain except that the difference in weight results in a very slightly different feel to me.

The P-01 comes with the rubber magazine base which changes and improves the feel in hand (IMO), but the "Compacts" don't come with that feature because they are configured for carry. It's only a $9 item and can be added to any of the magazines (as I've done on my PCR above) for range shooting, but I'd use a magazine without the base pad for carry. Without the pad my pinky finger rides the steel magazine base plate. With it, the gun feels closer in grip length to the full-size guns.

All that said, I agree about the P-01. If I were getting a one of the compact guns I'd get the P-01 UNLESS it was going to be carried concealed a lot. In that case I might get the PCR due to the slightly smaller profile of the dust cover. But, I am a big fan of the green laser, so I'm reluctant to buy a semi-auto without a rail these days....

It's going to be an alternate carry piece as well as a range gun.

I don't believe in hanging things off of handguns, so a rail is superfluous. Therefore, I'd be going for the CZ75 Compact with the manual safety, converted to SAO.

Hey all. First post.
CZ P01 full package by Cajun Gun Works is an absolute tack driver. DA 8 lbs SA 3.5 lbs.
Tanfoglio/EAA Witness Elite Match with Henning Products short reach flat trigger. SA only 3.5-4 lbs depending on the springs installed. Henning sells springs that allow even lower weight pulls, but I prefer to go no lower than 3.5.
A few polymer frames in the stable, an aluminum 1911, and a snubby wheelgun. I just really prefer the CZ and clone metal-framed pistols.

Nothing at all wrong with a rail but I don't like anything hanging off my handguns either.

I have two PCR's. Not as good a trigger as some single action triggers but as double action triggers go the PCR's have nice triggers right out of the box.

PCR has more weight than a polymer frame and for me that makes for a steadier hold at the range while keeping the carry weight comfortable.

I doubt few would dispute the reliability and the accuracy of the PCR's.

I have the C100 in 380ACP, 9mm and 40 S&W. TriStar no longer imports the C100 in 380 or 40. The 9mm version has an alloy frame which makes it really comfortable for carrying not to mention they can be had for under $400. All three calibers are tack drivers. My C100 in 9 and 40 S&W are my go-to guns in these calibers. The 380 is a range gun.

If you want an excellent compact metal 9mm, the TriStar C100 is highly recommended. I have the CZ75BD and, frankly, I don't see any difference in accuracy between the C100 and the '75.
