CZ92 Coming Soon?

I contacted CZ-USA several weeks ago after the rumor first started and they said they had no plans to manufacture the 92 in the U.S.
 
The 92 is, I think, just an updated CZ-45 -- so offering the magazines may be something they do for the many CZ-45s floating around. CZ doesn't make ANY CZs in the U.S., except the newest CZ 1911 (which is built by the same folks who build the Dan Wesson 1911s.)

If CZ wants to sell CZ-92s in the U.S., about the only way they can do it is with US-made guns. The small guns like the 92 are basically difficult to import, because of the "point" system imposed on imported guns. (That was done to keep the cheap "Saturday Night Specials" from being imported. I think that point system may be why Glock never imported a .380 -- they waited until they could build one here.) The point system is why the CZ-85 Combat, which doesn't have a firing pin block, is imported with adjustable sights: the points lost from no fpb is made up by adding the adj. sights.)

Hopefully they are planning on having Dan Wesson but it makes sense i guess that the magazines are for the old CZ-45.

Too bad because I would love a high quality, heavy, all steel, large, low capacity .25 ACP! Must mean i'm getting old!

Walt Sherril hit it on the nose. The CZ 92 is just an updated copy of the original CZ 45 and its predecessor, the CZ 36.

As produced in Czechoslovakia, it would not meet the ridiculous points system imposed by GCA of 68 and BATF rules.

I contacted CZ and they flat out told me they hae intentions of producing that gun in the U.S.

I can't think of the name of the particular gun, but there was one produced several years back that bore more than a superficial resemblance to the CZ 45, but was partial polymer, IIRC. I want to say Interdynamics, but I'm really not sure.:confused:

It was the Intratec Protec 25. It had a zamak frame and steel slide. Wasn't incredibly popular despite being very inexpensive.
