Daggumit! Bitten by the 10MM bug again

Stopped by the base AAFES gun shop today just to see what’s on the shelf and darned if they didn't have an FN510 available. Even had a 10% off sale and today was the last day.
So now I have another 10MM added to my collection.

Took the FN510 out to the range today and put 100 rounds thru it.

Initially I was hitting right and low and realized the suppressor height sights on this pistol will take some getting used to. Just a bit different for some reason and I had to concentrate a bit more with them.

I put about 80 rounds of 180 gr FMJ over Longshot, 5 rounds of Underwood 165 gr JHP, 5 rounds of Underwood 200 gr JHP and finally 10 rounds of 180 gr XTP with an over max charge of 800X.

The 800X loads have ran great in all of my 10MM’s but the FN didnt like them. They shot fine and grouped well but there seems to be leas chamber support so I ended up with Glocksmiles and 1 lost primer. Needless to say the FN 510 wont get those loads again.

Heres the worst of the 10 rounds with 800X.



The FN barrel doesn’t seem to have as much support as other barrels.

Overall the gun shoots well and feels better in my hand than the XDM Elite 10MM. I have a Holosun 507C X2 en route for the 510 and will take it for another spin after I install the sight.

Yeesh! That case looks like a belted magnum case. Maybe it’s a new “10 mm Wyoming Magnum” no one has ever heard of.

Agree. Doesn’t do that in my S&W M&P, G40 with factory barrel or the XDM elite. Not Even out of the Hi-Point 1096 Carbine.

Will definitely keep them far away from the FN

The G20 had a KKM aftermarket barrel. The current G40 I have still has the factory barrel and doesn’t give Glocksmiles from that load.

My G20 circa 1993 did!
Loads I’d been using in my 1006 blew out at the case head. Blew the magazine out of the gun but didn’t damage anything.
I sold the G20 shortly afterwards. Traded off the 1006 for a Custom match 1911.
Carried/used a G22 for three decades. Finally got another 10mm recently.
Taylor’s & Co. (Armscor) 1911. It’s a “keeper”.

I had a Gen 3 G20 and the chamber support on the barrel left Glocksmiles as well when pressure got to the top end. Ran a Storm Lake barrel in that until I sold it. Last G20 (Gen 4) I had got a KKM barrel as soon as I got home with it. But, the current G40 (Gen 4) seems to have better support and doesn’t leave any Glocksmiles with that 800X load. I did consider buying aftermarket barrel for it at first but after 200 800X rounds with no bulge I decided to keep using the factory barrel.

I bought the FN545 after manhandling the 510 at my LGS. I really like the suppressor height sights because they’re almost like using a red dot - which is my preference. Gun has great ergos and the trigger is really good. Very easy to put rounds on top of each other.

So far this is my initial assessment as well. Plenty more round to fire yet before I’m sold on it.

The 10 Mike Mike is an excellent weapon.

I’ve got the Glock produced example, the 20.

Just don’t feed your new pet watered down ammo.

That bulge is a bit worse than what I had from starting loads in my Delta Elite that Colt thought was fine. I sold that one for my own safety with full disclosure. Your knowingly shooting over max so there’s that, but I would still be talking to customer service about chamber support.
