This pistol proves you don’t need a pedigreed barrel for accuracy.
All three models are identical as far as the action is concerned. The 717 is the base model. The 747 has a Lothar Walther barrel. The 777 was discontinued a few years ago, having Lothar Walther barrel, wooden grips and adjustable metal sights. The 722 also the same as the 717 except in .22 cal.
These guns are very accurate, very quiet and a joy to shoot. In my opinion a great choice for someone wanting to try 10 meter competition.
Daisy 717 was released in 1979 and initially thought to be something of a toy. Until it started winning target competitions (against FWB 65's and such like pistols) and one renowned shooter (Don Nygord) championed this pistol. Nygord recommended two mods: an adjustable trigger and uprated rear sights. The trigger is altered via a screw you have to drill and tap into the grip frame yourself which alters the contact point with the sear, allowing the trigger to be set far lighter than the 2lbs standard. 500 grams was achieved.
Today I shoot it from 25 feet off hand.,

I enjoy shooting my 717 in my back yard. It is very accurate, but due to failing eyesight I mounted a scope on mine. The starlings in my back yard are on the endangered list., along with the feral pigeons.

I don't have have a 717, but picked up a 777 a few months back. Thats the upgraded version, Lothar Walther barrel, machined cocking lever vs stamped in the 717 and 747, a steel click adjustable rear sight, adjustable trigger and wood target grips. It's a lot heaver than the other versions. It got me so interested I searched and got 3 of the 747, kind of in between with the only difference is that it has the same barrel and adjustable trigger as my 777. I'm planning on some matches with my son and grandson, all of using the same model gun. I also got a 722 which is the same as the 717 but in .22 cal. Downside of it is a much lower muzzle velocity, about 260fps vs 360-390 in the .177 cal guns. All needed reesealing, The foam wipers had hardend and shrunk and literally crumbled when taking the guns apart. Some of the O-rings showed flattening and hardeing. One gun had the O-ring so hard that it would only give about 250fps, I resealed all with polyurethan O rings, and split flat rings(think washers) instead of a foam wiper, and put in new valves. One that I bought, with a fitted case, had the safety missing but that was about a $2.00 fix. They do not have the power of my Crosman 22xx types, but plenty for ten meter targets, and at that range can still make a soda can jump. plus a lot more consistant especially in cooler weather, and no drop off as when a CO2 cart is nearing the end of it's life.

I did find two more of the full target 777 pistols and one is due in tomorrow, and the other probably late in the week. One was listed as resealed, so will see, the other I don't know, but have a kit on hand, and I am getting quite profiient at reworking these. When I get these up and running the sone and grandson can really shoot some full target pistols.
