Dallas Market Hall Gun Show

Without the Market Hall gun shows of the past I would've never known what a sugar-glider was...

LOL... I remember seeing those.

I'll be there on Sunday around 10 or so. I'll at least have my hat from FBMG on.

I'll be the skinny guy

That alone makes you recognizable in the crowd... :D
Yeah, you definitely have a point there; never seen so many big, chunky guys in my life. For once, I'm finding it real hard to blend into the crowd - perhaps I, too, should wear some of that mall-ninja, tactical camo-gear ;)

Dang, that was ugly. I don't recall ever seeing more torturous parking or crammed aisles. I guess that's a good thing.

Didn't find LawDog or Gracie Slick.

Got some elk jerky, though.

Wow - that was the most packed show I've seen at Market Hall yet. The parking was tight because there was some 'liquidation sale' show going on elsewhere on the property.... I got another new M&P 40 ($389 from Schramms - that has GOT to be below wholesale) and a new Saiga 308 21" for the princely sum of $324. Happy, happy Richard. :D

I did get to see a gaggle of 'bangers try to buy an AK from GlobalTrades.

"Where it says 'Have you ever been convicted' - does my stealin' a car count?"
"Did you do it?"
"Hell, yeah." <giggles and elbows from the group> "But I'm getting deferred something or other, man - does that count?"
"I don't know - this could be an issue.."
"Call it in, man - lesseee if they let me...."

At that point, I just walked away....

Edited to add: I've been home for scarcely three hours with my new IZ-139, and I've already ordered four FBMG 20rd mags for it. :D

Got my first request to make a straw purchase! I was at the dealer in the northwest corner (blue cloths no signs) looking at a 4" GP100 when a young guy walks up and asks me if I found what I was looking for. I assumed he was part of the dealer's team, but then he starts in with "if you're gonna get that, how about you pick this one up for me [points at Jennings 9mm] - I got money, so no worries."

Thought for a moment about one of those .308 Saigas - but I couldn't really think of a good reason for another rifle at the moment.

Lots of overpriced used revolvers and pistols - sometimes I wonder why some of these dealers even bother showing up.

It was crowded.

I didn't intend getting anything but odds and ends but found a NIB IAI "WW2 Commemorative M1 Carbine".
Very nice.:)

It must have been stashed somewhere, I think IAI has been out of business for some time.

My favorite was the $450 Yugo 59/66 SKS. <sigh>

My god that place was crowded. First time I have ever stood in line to get into a show.

You guys weren't kidding about some of the prices being high. Waaayyy over priced on about 75% of the firearms I looked at. Lawdog said he saw a CZ 40P priced over $500.00. I did manage to come home with an HK USP .40 Compact that I have been wanting for a while. It wasn't a steal, but I got a good price none the less.

Ye tapdancing Gods!

How do y'all breathe with all those people using your air?

I have never had to wait in line to get into a gun-show before -- that's kind of new.

There was some nice stuff there, though. This gun-show is the first time I've ever seen a Thomas DA .45 in the paint. Very neat, and the same guy had a S&W 39 ASP conversion which was just fantastic.

All-in-all, very nice, although considerably more crowded than I'm comfortable with.

I went to a show there last year and found it to be great compared to the small shows we have in Louisiana.

You may gripe about prices (who doesn't at any show) but at least many, many guns are there to view and haggle over.

I bought a couple of rifles and a bit of ammo.

Here is a pic from the floor from the show's site. It's even bigger than it looks. You can spend the day there:

I'd like to try to the show at Big Town Exhibit Hall in Mesquite (just outside of Dallas to the east). Any comparisons?

Dunno when your picture was taken, but that was probably the emptiest that Market Hall was all day. I got there at 0945 and it was packed, and I left at 1515 and it was STILL packed. For reference to folks that were't there - the trinket vendors are mostly (but not all) behind the picture taker, in the back of the hall.

Mesquite's a little smaller show, and the crowd is a bit smaller as well. Some local vendors (Military Gun Supply, for example) aren't making it to Big Town every show because the shows are getting scheduled too close together and they can't justify the outlay for Market Hall *and* Big Town.

Tyler Show at the Oil Palace

I went Friday during the day and dropped by on the free pass they gave me to come back (since the vendors weren't all there Friday) when I was driving back from shooting the Panola Highpower match late Saturday afternoon.

This wasn't up to the normal Tyler show at Harvey Hall on the Smith County Fairgrounds at all. Very few vendors. New operator trying it out. They did have the Border Patrol, Police, and NRA, TSRA running tables there.

I hadn't seen a Finn Mosin Nagant and there was one there, and G. Gordon Liddys "Stacked and Packed" calendar was being sold by two of the models in the calendar. That was it. Otherwise tables full of overpriced junk. I bought some fake M1 Carbine Oilers for 3 bucks each so I could put slings on the rifles.

I appreciate them giving it a shot. Needs work.

TSRA show during the Convention in Mesquite is usually OK at the Mesquite Rodeo Center. It's the first weekend of Feb.

I was there. I just bought a few AR-15 magazines from Bachman's pawn shop. I think I was the only asain guy there.

I went bought some .223, some 7.62X25 and some AR-15 mags. I thought it was a pretty good show, I saw a Rock Island for $335 which is much cheaper than around here and I almost pulled the trigger on that but then I remember I couldn't...stupid laws.:(

Man, I saw the M&P's for 389 at someone's bench and was MAD, as about 4 months ago I picked one up for a little less than double that, new (with taxes and stuff).

I just bought a new car so I was just there browsing, but I'm always on the lookout for Remington 870 parts or a cheap revolver. There was a few good deals, but not many.

PS I was the guy in the IDF t-shirt, arguing and attempting to haggle with vendors. :neener:

Hubby says he saw some nice Swedes at one table. Too bad he didn't spot the Finn! I'm wanting a Finn! (already have the Swedes!)
