They can't DO THIS TO ME!

AUGH! When I first saw the 329PD, I said they oughta make one in .45ACP. They did, but a snubby. Now they've got a 4"...after I got my 5" 625! I can't justify another full sized, .45ACP N-Frame...but I WANT IT! AND the 2.5" model!

And what the heck is THIS CRAP? A 4" .45 Colt Mountain Gun?

CRIMENY! Why don't I just put all my money in a overnight pouch and FedEx it straight to Smith & Wesson?

My 625 is pretty hard to beat :) Looking to get a 627 soon. I love the feel of the new large N-frame smiths.

.45 LC?

I thought the mountain gun was a limited run production....they still making it?

If so, I might end up skipping that AK I been looking at...grin.

Absolutely agree that you should buy them all. How can a man of your obviously superior tasts in firearms do without at least one of each? You've earned it... you deserve it... you're an American, damn it! You have a Constitutional RIGHT to own as many S&Ws as you like!

Um... did I mention that I'm a stockholder in S&W?

The other night I was trying to fall asleep and I started trying to count the number of Smiths I own. It was like counting sheep, very relaxing, I dozed right off. Now if I could only remember the number I came up with! :D

I should get some more in case I get serious insomnia.

Why would you want a new Smith and Wesson with the lawyer lock on it when there are literally thousands of them out there on the secondary market with no lock?

The lock is a non issue just don't use it. A lot of people get upset about nothing.

Where? You know how many used Smith & Wessons my local gun shop has?

Zero.

In any case, finding a 325PD with no lock on it might be a bit of a challenge, since it doesn't exist... :D

I don't like the locks either, but I have three Smiths with them on. Ugly little hole that should have been put under the gun's grip panels, but I can live with them. They are making some nice guns nowadays. Oh, and I have about twice that number of old Smith and Wessons without the locks. They're keepers.

The lock may be an issue from a function standpoint, or it may not. There is one member of this forum who dropped his revolver, and the lock became locked upon impact.

Personally, I see it as one more thing to go wrong. It probably would never be a problem, but if it is, you could get killed.

Also, I do not think the guns with the lock will appreciate in value as much as the pre-lock guns.

Finally, the lock reminds me of the grim days of the Clinton administration, where Smith and Wesson stupidly made a deal with the devil. I really dont want to be reminded of that.

If you can only be happy with the 325 PD, then I guess you are stuck having to live with the lock. If other model 25's will do, then it is certainly easy to find pre-lock models if you want them.

All members of Federal, State, and local are now issued "lock beams" for cilvilian owned firearms with the locking feature.

Each patrol unit has a grill mounted "conical beam array" which will lock any gun within the beam out to a distance of 50 yards.

Plans are in place for satellite based beams, which in conjunction with cell phone locator systems, can lock selected citizens firearms.

Have a gunsmith take the gun apart for you. Then remove the teeth of the lock, give it back to the smith and have him reassemble it. Simple solution. Now nothing can cause the lock to activate.

You are joking, but I could see something like that happening in the future if electronic so called "smart guns" are ever mandated.

Yes, that will work, but why should I have to spend money to make the gun the way it should have been in the first place??

And, if you remove the teeth, you are still left with an ungainly hole in the side of your revolver.

Why does EVERY post about a S&W turn into a debate (or just a simple hate fest) on the lock? Yeah, I could do without it. But it's probably here to stay. If you can't buy a gun with a lock then don't. But your choices will grow smaller with each passing year and complaining at every opportunity won't help.

I have a 4" 325PD, and it shoots very nicely. Mine came with different grips than shown in the picture, and I'm thinking of buying a set of those Ahrend's round to square conversion grips. The grips that shipped with the gun are the ones shown on the 2" 325PD on the web site -- they're okay but are much smaller and really smack the shooting hand. Not bad for carry, though.
