should I get a Dan Wesson rz-45 heritage or a HK-45? does anyone own any of these guns? If you think I should get another .45 then what is it? dont say glock or xd though- I want high quality ($1,000) thanks.

Which do you want? Apples or oranges?
I own an H&K USP45 and a DW CBOB .45. The two pistols you are comparing are two completely different styles of pistols, so you'll need to figure out what is important to you.
The only way I could personally answer your question is to say that my DW gets shot more often than the H&K.

I have a Kimber Custom II TLE/RL and just picked up an HK45 last week. The Kimber is a heavy and solid pistol that is a dream to shoot with the crisp trigger. I've had about 5 FTFs in the first 300 rounds. I have put about 700 more since then and haven't had a single issue.

The HK is lighter but has a 10rd mag and so far has been very reliable although I only put around 200 rds through it.

Both are great pistols but if I only had to pick one I'd stay with my Kimber. Maybe since I've put about a 1000 rds through it I feel more comfortable with it.

While I have not fired the HK, I have a CBob that is the sweetest 1911 I have ever laid a trigger finger on. You cannot go wrong with a Wesson.

I think you'd be better off 1st trying to determine if you want a 1911 or a 'combat' handgun, and then seeing if the Dan Wesson model is what you want in a 1911 or if the HK45 is what you want in a 'combat' handgun. To me the guns are two different styles and can't easily be compared.

I've owned 1911's and currently own a HK45c. I sold of my last 1911 to keep the HK45c as I prefer the simplicity of the HK45c design and it's easier for me to take down and clean. I also feel as if the HK45c will be more reliable, though I've only had a few minor issues with my 1911's (had a S&W .45 and a Colt 9MM).

I have a few HKs & one DBOB -- my HKs have been great shooters since day one while the CBOB had a break in period. If you're only going to have one -- get the HK 1st and the DW down the road so you will have BOTH :cool

I have to disagree with the masses...I LOVE my HK's (including my HK45). You won't see me trading it for a 1911 any time soon, and I like 1911's, just not for the job of an everyday chips are down weapon. Not saying they can't handle it but if you're carrying why not get the one that weighs less, recoils less, and carries more while being ultra reliable??

HK Cust service...call me a fanboy but I've met alot more folks that have "heard" HK customer service is bad than have experienced it. I've dealt with them on some upgrades and they were nothing but excellent to deal with...

I've got a USP Tac. 45 and if they ever come out with the threaded barrel version of the HK45 I'll probably pick that up too since I like the grip better, but I still shoot my DW 1911 better. If I could only own one, and I didn't have a suppressor, I'd get the DW for sure.

1911

I'm selling my Sigs to buy 1911s; not because they're better but because they talk to me and I understand.

The HK 45 is the best feeling, best fitted, and best finished polymer frame pistol I've personally handled. However, I just bought a lightly used Dan Wesson Pointman 10. The DW is probably the finest production 1911 I've handled. You're not going to get a bad gun either way; you just need to decide which one would make you happiest.

Technically, is it even possible to develop love for a plastic device? How gay do you have to be?

. . . .I'd go with the Dan Wesson because HK hates you.

And HK CS hates you even more . . .

You simply cannot go wrong with DW today. Possibly the BEST production 1911 made in the US.

I'd say go with the advice from D-man. Get the most proven combat wepon. Get the 1911. Most proven combat wepon of the 2. Been in every WW ,Korea,Vietnam, and Even Irak and Afganistan.Get the combat wepon.
