Happy Owner

Well I don't have pictures yet, but I just returned from my first range time with my new DW CBOB .45. This is my first personally owned 1911, and I am very impressed. Excellent quality piece and very nice, light trigger. My first couple shots strings were a bit off due to my jerking and overanticipating. I've been shooting 9mm for a while now, and it took a couple mags to adjust to the .45. Once I settled down and did my part, this little wonder gun did its job of making one nice gaping hole. I am very pleased.

Shot 50 rounds of CCI Blazer Brass FMJ. No reliability issues. Everything functioned as it was supposed to. After a couple more boxes of CCI fmjs, I'll put some JHP ammo through it and see how that goes. I really like the feel of it and hope to make it my CCW.

Came with two mags w/ the rubber bumper. Night sights are yellow rear and green front. Very, very nice trigger. I like this trigger more than the Wilson Protector that I've shot many times previously at the range. Absolutely beautiful firearm.

Only a couple things about it that I wish were different. There are a couple of sharp edges around the beavertail - it could be much smoother where the beavertail and the frame meet. The MSH is smooth - I would have preferred it to have come with 30lpi checkering to match the frontstrap, but this can be resolved easily enough. I will probably replace the MSH and the barrel bushing with Ed Brown parts.

This is my first personally owned 1911, and I couldn't be more pleased. Somewhere down the road I hope to get either a Les Baer TRS or a custom Colt 5", but that will have to wait until after I can get all the reloading equipment for .45acp. This Dan Wesson is the most enjoyable shooting gun I own (and that is saying alot b/c I love shooting my P226). I had better get that reloading stuff ASAP, so I can keep shooting 45.

Here are some pics - they didn't come out as good as my usual ones, but I'm trying new methods. I need to get the supplies to make that light box. Once Finals are over I reckon.
