Renegades on the used shelf. Both look like they were unfired or not much. I would guess unfired though. One in 50 and one in 54. Now I have had one renegade in 50 for 30 years about and love it. Don't shoot it much though but dang if I am not tempted to call and offer dollars for both! I don't have a 54 yet but got a mold and a bunch of bullets and accessories here a while back in a horse trade/ too good a deal to pass on... the 50 I would like just to have a double of a great gun I already have.

I should get at least one of em if not both but why? I need em like a whole in my head.... I already have five ML rifles I don't shoot a lot...

It's a good thing that the firearm industry is not based on need or it would still be a cottage industry.
It can be argued that the only gun you need is a shotgun.
If I were in your shoes I'd be buying the 54. It will give you a reason to spend more money on 54 specific assc. I have multiples of a few guns and I always have a prejudice for the first bought of any pair.

Definitely get the .54. Bang-up deer killer if there ever was one...whether shooting roundballs or conicals.

Not only that, but you can get the purple MMP sabots and shoot 330 gr .50 S&W pistol bullets in the 54...they WILL stabilize in the Renegade's 1:48 twist. Accurate and very effective on deer.

As to a second .50 Renegade, I'd be tempted to buy that too and then pick up a 1" Green Mountain .58 cal. barrel for it, keeping the TC .50 as a spare. You'd be covered from .50 to .58; all excellent hunters.

But then I have a weakness for the old discontinued TC muzzleloaders, especially .54 Renegades.

You could 'justify' it ths way Paul.

With the price of ML goin thru the roof as of late. 'specialy the T/C's, if the price(es) are right, they are an investment.
Yeah, that's it... an investment :D

Well I need to read more carefully, both were 50 cal and I did grab one for 180.00... A bit more than I wanted to pay but still a good deal on a great rifle. I liked when they were sub 150 because everyone wants inlines ;) as new but for some safe dings... I did offer 300 for both but the seller did not like that much, I am glad he said no or I would have got em both !

The .54 stuff goes to my buddies kids to shoot... if I don't get one before then and even then I subsidize their shootin... dang ML are at least slower/cheaper then them shooting the sten gun ;)
