I have a Pact BBKII digital scale I have been using for five years and it has been a good scale. Well I went down to do some reloading tonight and the scale won't zero. I guess I'll stop on the way home tomorrow and see what a RCBS beam scale cost local.

Have read to try this to "reset" the Pact scale:
1. Hold GRN/GRM and on/off buttons
2. While holding plug unit in.
3. Hold for 6 sec
4. Release all
5. Display reads --0-
6. Calibrate 2 times.
Have been lucky with my Pact Precision scale. Bought it when electronic Pacts went on the market YEARS ago. Knock on Wood!
Here's another discussion on factory reset on your scale: (a different procedure than above)

Send it home with a letter 'splainin what's goin on.

It might take 'em 6 months, but they'll fix it.
They also want a check for "I think" $14.95 to ship it back to you.
But what the heck, for about $20 (you gotta ship to them) you'll have a back up scale if you're new one dies.
Call 'em, they'll give you the details.

Most of the time that a digital scale is not accurate it needs it's batteries changed. I would try new batteries first even if you have just changed them before sending the thing back.:) I also have a second scale--one with batteries and one that will work without power as well as some scoops. Plan B is always a good option and tends to trouble proof things.

Hey Rg1, I think you left off one step between 3 & 4....

Step 3.5 - Lift left leg :)

Left off step 3.5 and step 1 A: cross toes on right foot for good luck! Haven't tried any of the reset methods because as of yet I haven't needed to. Have had my Pact Precision since the early 90's which makes mine close to 20 years old. If it ever breaks, I'll order another Pact within the hour.

I have a digital scale, but only trust my near 50 year old green machine beam scale. The 350 grain max sucks, but never enough to replace it.
