Seeing as my favorite local range has gone to a $15 all day pass; AND I'd not gotten to shoot the P290RS .380 yet, I decided to take big SIG and the SIG'lettes (and a few other goodies) on an afternoon outing.
The P250 and the 9mm P290RS have already proven they'll run on pretty much any brass cased ammo (I've not tried alum or steel, and have no urge). The .380 P290RS, however, has a quirk. It doesn't like Fioccchi ammo. I only had 26 rounds of it, so I used it first, and almost got discouraged. At least once per magazine, it would go to "almost but not quite" into battery, and I'd have to boot the back of the slide with my hand. But once the Fiocchi was gone, it ran on Win Whitebox, PPU, CCI, S&B, Hornady, Sig Elite and Estate like gas through a funnel. Not so much as a hiccup. Then I fed it some hp, Hornady XTP, Sig V-Crown, and Federal HST. All perfect; so, I won't feed it any Fiocchi
On this target, I fired 2 magazines from each gun, one set at 7 yards, the next at 10 yards. And made an interesting discovery. The big hole is peanut shaped. I found that with BOTH P290's I would shoot about 1 to 2" low right when using the extended magazines with the grip extension. I need to work on my grip with those particular mags...
Anyhows, had much amounts of fun.
