To be honest, most police trade-ins I've seen have looked pretty good with just some holster wear.

I remember seeing some Berettas that looked brand new. The seller had said that police trade-ins have to be sold as used even if they sat in the police vault unused and unissued. They were a great price on an almost new pistol.

All three of these were PD contract guns, finished with Robar NP3 (not SS) and equipped with Tritum sights under the contract, which were traded in when they "upgraded" to .40s. I got them at a steal and they have been fantastic (but I am convinced the NP3 had a lot to do with their excellent condition):

Not a bad deal keeping everything these posters said in mind: condition, double action only, caliber, and size.

I've got a bunch of Berettas and the only 40SW I have has the Brigadier slide which helps with balance and muzzle flip.

Well...I picked up the store the OP referenced, Vance's Shooters Supply in Columbus Ohio today. These are "police" trade ins by definition only. These were traded in by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (aprox 250 total) and other then a little holster wear these are pretty much brand new. The have both blued and stainless model 96Ds for the 259.99 sale price. I picked up a stainless model this morning, it has some holster wear but after field stripping it (in the store) revealed the internals are spotless as is the barrel. There is absolutely no powder burn marks, no wear and tear anywear on the slide. Externally as stated these is some minor holster wear but that is to be expected in a service gun trade it.

I'm a really big fan of Beretta pistols so this was a real no brainer for me.....my vote...Good Deal...if you are local....they are going fast....about 20 sold in the hours I was at the shop about 1/2 hours after the store opened.

I had a LEO trade in Centurian. Grips and slide were a little worn, but otherwise in great shape, and fired very little as I could tell. It ran smooth as silk, and was my bedstand gun for 5years. I was pleased as heck. A Sig caught my eye and I traded it in. I regreted it. Sigs are highly overrated IMHO.

Thanks for the pics guys. I'd kinda like to have a beretta just cuz of its mystique. But it just wouldn't serve any purpose at all for me.

I mean, seriously, I'm considering buying a CZ82 for not much less than that and I don't consider it to hold a candle to the 96D.
