Does anyone have a favorite discreet case suitable for a broken down ar? This one looks really great http://www.sertsystem.com/html/sert-C3.html but is out of stock and seems a bit expensive anyway. I'd consider a pelican or tool box or something like that but those still look like "something valuable." The nylon "bag full of work crap" style like this is really what I'm hoping to find. :D

I like the soft guitar bags you can sometimes get at the pawn shop for cheap. Of course those look valuable too.

If you are out JUST to keep it from looking like a firearm, use one of those black nylon rolling carry on bags. Most of them come with straps inside already and it will just look like everyone else's suitcase.

^ good thinking...

reminds me of the hanging garment bag that the Governator used in "Raw Deal" all those years ago...

I'm mostly just wanting something that can be carried in and out of an apartment without people thinking "mmmm money" or leave sitting in my hatchback after shooting that won't make someone think the same thing :D

I work at a Toys R Us, and we used to have these Little Tikes carry bags for those inflatable bounce around playsets. Not sure if they're still made or not, but you might look for something like that, or a carry bag for a Pack n Play, might find one cheap at a garage sale. Maybe a duffle bag from a military surplus store. Something along those lines doesn't really scream 'valuable', and certainly not 'gun'.

Whatever you do, don't get a used mailbag! :p

Now I think on it again, part of being discrete is that it has to blend.
If your body type suggests you've never seen a gym, let alone work out, a gym/tennis/etc bag is going to draw more attention than it deflects. Same with a toolbox. Walking in and out of your place on a regular basis with a noticeably sized toolbox draws attention. If you don't have kids, carrying around a Pack 'n Play case is...well, you'll probably be discussing that one with uniformed authorities, or maybe Dateline.
So pick a bag that blends with you. Or just don't keep it a secret. All depends on your neighbors, I suppose.

Ok, will somebody tell me where I can find a supersized McDonalds bag that will hold an AR?

Acera, you may have to special order that from McDonald's HQ. Tell them it needs to be made of kevlar(paper won't last long). When they ask why, blame the armadillos. I think it would work.

How about one of those cute shopping bags... this shouldn't draw too much attention, huh?

I sometimes use a ncie rollaway extra thick gituar case for the Barrett (with attendant music stickers). And for for the Mosins, I use a lockable rollaway golf bag.

American Tourister(sp?) is on clearance at our Walmart right now---got a discrete handgun case for $9.

Pretty sure you can find something to meet your needs.

ANY bag or case left inside a vehicle will be a magnet for smash-and-grab thieves. I do more BMV reports than all other reports put together, at my big-city police patrol job.

get a large oxygen bottle and cut it in half put gun in it and walk around with nasal canula in
