So, here's the deal, I don't know what gun to get next! I currently own a Winchester 1300 20 Gauge and a Marlin 795.

Currently sitting at $255 stashed up.

Here's what I'm looking at:

Remington 870 18" Barrel Shotgun at Academy: $350ish

CMMG Bargain Bin AR15 Carbine: $599.95

TULA MANUFACTURE HEX RECEIVER M91-30 RIFLE Mosin Nagant $119.95

And lastly:ROMANIAN AK- MV SEMI AUTO RIFLE $389.95

Scroll about 3/4th of the way down the page to see.

Also, rifle skills are kinda subpar, is getting better with a rifle the same way as a shotgun, that is to say, BA/UU/R?

I will say that I'm leaning to the Shotgun, as I prefer them over Rifles, but not leaning enough to seal the deal.

Everyone should own an AR. The best way to get better with the rifle is go to the range and make the best of the outing you can. Go to any local matches you can and try and hook up with some of the better rifle shooters there. Ask lots of questions and listen to everything they have to say.

+1 on the AR idea. You can do it piece by piece, the prices on AR related stuff is at a all time low. It is a good time to start building one. With what you have now you can build a complete lower. or buy the upper first and little by little get the parts for a lower. Besides its fun to build your own rifle!!

I voted for the AK, I'm having a blast with mine lately. Since from your OP, I'm gathering that you are wanting to improve your rifle skills. I opted then to steer away from the Mosin since some of the barrels are wornout (I haven't been able to shoot mine at 100y yet so I'm not sure how well it shoots). Since you already have a .22 and a shotgun, I'd say go with the AR or AK. You won't have to wait as long for the AK :)

Okay, more or less eliminating the Mosin, mainly due to the fact that I can get one off of a single paycheck, so it can wait.

As for the Shotgun, I like shotguns more than rifles (probably becaus I'm a better shot with one) and I want a the 870 for two reasons: Ammo availability in buckshot and slugs, and the looks :p

No I'm not going to build an AR.

The thing about the AR is that for the price of the AR I linked to..(which comes with no rear sight or mags) I can get an AK with accessories and ammo. On the other hand, an Ar is an ar.

An AR and an AK will both go boom when you pull the trigger. Accessories aside, they come down to more accuracy or more power. Both are decent rifles, and I would recommend owning both in the long run.

Mosin's aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Shotguns are quite versatile, and cheap to stock ammunition. Everyone should have one. This may be a good time...

I have 2 CMMGs both are chrome lined. They have not given me any problems but I only hunt, plink and target practice. The AK is a fine weapon weapon also. You might want to go someplace and handle both if you can not find a place to shoot them. A comparison against each other may make your mind up for you.

Bushmaster is the way to go , mid range prices good quality , great accuracy

The dude wasn't asking about a bushmaster, he is looking at a cmmg bargain bin gun.

I voted for the shotgun because it was the only quality gun listed on the thread.

I would suggest getting a better AR or AK. You can get an S&W M&P-15 for about $599 after the $100 rebate. You could get a Polish AK-74
for under $600. Both are WAY BETTER than what you've selected.

Another option is a good old fashion M-1 Garande. Buy and adjustable gas-lug so you can shoot ammo off the shelf, if you buy the Garande.

Didn't know that about the M&P, thanks.

Edit: looks like only the .22lr M&P's are that cheap. :(

Yep ... the AR ... and I don't think you can build one for the price of the CMMG "BB" guns ...
I've seen several posters that have bought them and very happy with them.

BA/UU/R ... yep!
Also getting involved with a range that sponsors service rifle matches and shooters that are serious will help too.

First let me say that I'm not an AR fan, I voted for the 870 just because I think everyone should have a slide gun beside the bed. Those are just my opinions. You have the marlin to work on your rifle skills with. If I had to pick a runner up, I'd go for the M91.

I like the link. I have a CMMG piston model and it has been very reliable for me. It cost more than the bargain bin model but I have been tempted to buy one of the bargain bins. A shooting friend has one and it has been very reliable for him.

I would go with the AR over the others listed because that is a staple for any shooter. Allows you to compete with it and is is fun and functional.
