Deer hides

We just dropped off three deer hides to get tanned at Visco Fur Inc. In Canisteo NY. $70 a hide, the wait time is about two months to get it back.
My brother will pick them up and mail mine to me.

We dont have "Deer" persay, but 'Reindeer" are what we call herded domestic stock and Caribou are the wild guys.

We hunt, skin, tan, cut and sew to sell museum displays of customary and traditional clothing for killer money if we don't use such our own more modern warm gear.

Sounds cool but it's easier by far to buy them for making stuff. Even smoked braintan.

Where do you find cheaper deer hides then having them tanned?
We had these tanned because we personally shot them and we have that connection of the hunt with them.

But other hides I'd like for my gun room I,d buy if they were cheap enough. Some I will shoot or trap myself and get proccessed.

I usually buy German-tan deerskin from places like Crazy Crow or bark tanned hides from Etsy.
