IF you decide to keep the 22-250, might consider bumping you choice up to a .270-only a little more recoil than the 25-06 and is effective for just about anything in NA...(same can be said for the 25-06 and the 7mm-08-I just could never warm up to the 7mm-08 though)

Of the choices you listed, I'd go with the 25-06 with the 22-250 or the .243 if you are set on having only one gun-the .243 will do both jobs just fine, but the .243 is a "compromise" for each job as well...but if you put the bullet where it is supposed to go on deer, you will have meat! And if you find the proper bullet for the yotes, you will have fur!

Thanks for all of the replies, it is greatly appreciated.

After much thought, and reading, I have decided to go with a different caliber alll together. I am going to get Tikka in 270 win, and keep my 22-250. This way if I go after anything bigger than deer later I should be covered. Thanks again for all of the input.

Of your choices, I would choose the .25-06. Next selection would be the 7mm-08.

.257 Wby. Use 85 grain Nosler Partitions for game up to 500 lbs. and 85 grain ballistic tip varminters for smaller stuff. You should be able to get close to 3,900 fps with either pill. I've hunted all over North America and Africa with this rifle and it's never let me down. You can try 100 gr. NP's for Elk and the like, but the 1/10 twist that Weatherby uses is just too slow for anything heavier.

Any of the above are fine for whitetail.

As far as coyote and pelt damage, just load with solid bullets, this will cut down on the damage.

Personally, I'd go with the .25-06.

On a side note, why not the .308WIN or .30-06SPG ?

another vote for the .243

Its what I used for deer in MT for years. Never had a problem dropping deer, or antelope. It's light for elk, but IMO just about the perfect deer rifle.
